APALIT, Pampanga โ To promote ethical media practices in the age of artificial intelligence, the Student Publications Office (SPO) and the La Verdad Christian College (LVCC) Library, supported by the Student Affairs and Services (SAS), hosted a virtual seminar on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The webinar, "2-Hour AI Integrity Forum: Smart Research and Responsible AI Use for Student Writers," equips student writers from the Basic Education Department and Higher Education Department with essential digital verification skills.
The forumโs resource speaker, Ms. Ivy Cruzata, RL, MLIS, structured the session into two core modules: Truth Detectives and Transparency, Disclosure & Ethical Attribution.
Addressing the accuracy risks of fast AI tools, Cruzata introduced a practical four-step frameworkโSpot, Verify, Equip, and Useโto help student writers identify fabricated content, cross-reference claims, utilize professional fact-checking tools, and integrate clear AI disclosures to protect their publication's credibility.
Ms. Cruzata shared her hope that the session "inspired your student writers to become responsible researchers, ethical AI users, and credible campus journalists."
The collaboration between the SPO, LVCC Library, and the SAS highlights the institution's commitment to proactive media literacy, ensuring young journalists value accuracy and truth over digital convenience.
