Something to think about…🤔🤔🤔
My takeaways from the Talk of Cardinal David (PCNE)
1. Synodality as Liberation
Cardinal David presented synodality not just as a structure, but as a spiritual journey of liberation. He emphasized that when the Church truly walks together, it becomes a space of freedom, healing, and hope. “Addictions thrive in isolation, but freedom grows in communion.” This powerful reminder challenges the Church to be a community that breaks the chains of loneliness and oppression.
This reminds us that Synodality is a return to the heart of the Gospel; a community that listens, walks together, breaks bread, lifts the lowly, and sets each other free. It is in communion and shared mission that the Church becomes a living sign of God’s liberating love.
2. Creation and the Jubilee (Let the earth rest)
Cardinal David reflected on the Jubilee’s call to let the land rest, urging us to see this ancient command as deeply relevant today, especially in the face of climate crisis. He reminded us that God already instructed us to care for creation, to give the earth its Sabbath long before climate change became a global concern.
Quoting signs of our planet's suffering: deforestation, pollution, and ecological collapse; he warned that “the planet can hardly breathe.”
It is a simple reminder that the Jubilee is not just for people; it is for the planet. Letting the earth rest is a spiritual, moral, and urgent ecological responsibility. We are called to listen to creation’s groaning and respond with care, advocacy, and concrete action starting with knowing and supporting environmental laws.
Finally, true liberation for people and for creation happens when we walk together in communion, listen deeply, and respond with love.🙏❤️😊
