The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 1's Free Wi-Fi For All Program has successfully provided Free Internet Connectivity through Low Earth Orbit Satellite (LEOS) in 24 locations regionwide.
The Provision of Internet Access via Low Earth Orbit Satellite or PIALEOS Project is the Region's move to connect remote communities conveniently to reliable internet connectivity. The Free Wi-Fi team facilitated the installation of the LEOS units in identified schools and barangay halls, based on the evaluated areas with poor to no mobile signal coverage and are underserved in terms of fiber internet connectivity. The 24 LEOS units were evenly distributed in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan, providing fast and seamless free public internet to the identified beneficiaries.
The two barangay halls and the 22 public schools beneficiaries are the following: Adams National High School, Carasi National High School, Dumalneg Elementary School, Caunayan Elementary School, San Marcelino National High School, and Barangobong Elementary School in Ilocos Norte, Gregorio Del Pilar National High School, Casilagan Barangay Hall, Sto. Rosario Elementary School, Baringcucurong Elementary School, Apang Elementary School, and Banga Elementary School in Ilocos Sur, Sapdaan Elementary School, Dasay Elementary School, Santo Rosario Elementary School, Burgos National High School, Bariquir Elementary School, and Sta. Rita Elementary School in La Union, and Bangan Oda Barangay Hall, Rizal Elementary School, Trenchera Elementary School, Angatel Elementary School, San Antonio Elementary School, and Magsaysay Elementary School in Pangasinan.
