"Leadership is not just about being in the forefront; it's about giving voice to those who can't speak up and helping them find the courage to stand up for their rights.
While it may sound inspiring, these words are the result of years of experience and countless hours of hard work. They reflect how a 17-year-old girl has forged her path through the complex yet rewarding journey of leadership.
Reflecting on her early experiences that ignited her passion for leadership, Nicole enjoys delving into her imagination through her toys and books, which unleash creativity beyond her expectations.
During her elementary school years, she came to understand how silence could stifle courage after witnessing a classmate break down in tears, overwhelmed by the fear of not having her voice heard on the issues she wanted to address.
This sparks her arduous journey towards leadership. She shared that if she could be a student leader someday, she could help give wings to the voice of those who are unrepresentedβenough to rumble their fear and loud enough to be seen and heard.
βNaisip ko po na kung ako ay magiging isang lider, maari kung maimpluwensyahan ang iba na wag matakot magsalita at ipaglaban and kanilang mga Karapatan,β she says. (βI thought that if I were to become a leader, I could inspire others not to be afraid to speak up and to stand for their rights.)
From that day forward, Nicole poured her energy into reading and exploring leadership books. She came to grasp the significance of voicing her opinions and taking a stand on various issues that needed attention, both in her school and in the broader context of societal challenges.
