Nakikiisa ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng San Miguel sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2025 na may temang "Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa."

Ang temang ito ay nagbibigay-diin sa kahalagahan ng wikang Filipino at mga katutubong wika bilang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan at pagkakakilanlan bilang isang sambayanan. Sa pamamagitan ng pagdiriwang na ito, kinikilala ang papel ng wika sa pagbubuklod ng mga Pilipino mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa.

Ang LGU San Miguel ay kaisa ng buong bansa sa pagbibigay-halaga at pagpupugay sa ating pambansang wika at sa mayamang kultura ng mga katutubong wika ng Pilipinas.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Miguel, through the leadership of the Municipal Nutrition Action Office (MNAO), headed by Ms. Erica Rivera Rodriguez, RND, successfully culminated the 2025 Nutrition Month Celebration last July 30,2025, with a vibrant and meaningful activity centered on the theme “Food and Nutrition: Maging Priority – Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin.”

The highlight of the event was the much-anticipated “Luto ni Nanay at Tatay” Cooking Contest, which showcased the culinary talents of parents from various barangays. Contestants prepared creative and nutritious dishes using locally available and affordable ingredients, promoting practical ways to serve healthy meals at home. The competition not only celebrated the role of parents in ensuring proper nutrition but also served as an educational platform for promoting food security and dietary diversity.

Gracing the occasion was Mr. Kimberly Roy A. Balmadrid, RND, Nutrition Officer I of LGU Virac, who delivered an inspiring talk on the importance of prioritizing nutrition as a basic right and its impact on community well-being. His presence added depth to the advocacy campaign, reinforcing the call to action for healthier households and empowered communities.

With the success of this year’s celebration, LGU San Miguel continues to champion nutrition education and food accessibility, ensuring that every San Miguelnon is given the opportunity to lead a healthy and nourished life.

San Miguel, Catanduanes — The National Disability Rights Week culminating activity, themed "Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together," was successfully held on July 22, 2025, at the Municipal Multi-purpose Building, District 3, San Miguel.

Spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) under the leadership of Ms. Geraldine L. Templonuevo, RSW, the event gathered PWDs, their families, support groups, and local stakeholders in a day filled with meaningful engagement, talent showcases, and community interaction. The activity aimed to celebrate the unique abilities of PWDs while strengthening the call for inclusive development through innovation and empowerment.

Highlights of the event included inspirational messages, inclusive games, a singing contest, a pageant for empowerment, and the distribution of assistive devices and tokens. These activities not only showcased the talents and capabilities of PWDs but also fostered a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusive development.

The Local Government of San Miguel reaffirmed its commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible community, where every individual, regardless of ability, is empowered to thrive and participate fully in society.

With the support of the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 (𝐃𝐓𝐈) of Catanduanes and with the guidance of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐧, these local farmers continue to grow their livelihood through sustainable and creative enterprises.

In line with Executive Order No. 29, s. 2017, which declares the month of July of every year as National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), the Municipality of San Miguel officially commenced its NDRM 2025 observance with a kick-off activity that highlights the theme: “𝐾𝑢𝑚𝑖𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑜𝑠 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑎 𝑠𝑎 𝐾𝑎ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑎𝑛, 𝐾𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑎𝑛, 𝑎𝑡 𝐾𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑛.”

Signed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, EO No. 29 emphasizes the importance of strengthening the capacities of communities to be disaster-resilient—shifting the focus from mere awareness to concrete action. It mandates the active participation of all national and local government agencies, civil society organizations, and communities in promoting the four thematic areas of disaster resilience: prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, rehabilitation, and recovery.

A unity motorcade followed the ceremony, symbolizing the collaborative efforts of the LDRRMO, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of San Miguel in promoting disaster awareness and readiness. Sirens echoed through the town as government vehicles paraded through key barangays, bringing the message of resilience closer to every San Miguelnon.

This kickoff marks the beginning of a series of community-based activities and learning sessions aimed at strengthening local capacity in disaster risk reduction, response, and recovery.

As the nation observes this month-long advocacy, San Miguel reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods through kahandaan, kaligtasan, at katatagan.
