Spread Cyberbullying Awareness
Ctto
Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that takes place online or through digital communication tools such as social media, text messages, or emails. It involves the use of digital technology to harass, intimidate, or humiliate another person, often repeatedly and over an extended period of time. Cyberbullying can take many forms, including sending hurtful or threatening messages, spreading rumors or lies, sharing embarrassing photos or videos, or creating fake profiles or websites to impersonate or mock the victim. It can be especially damaging because it can reach a wide audience quickly and easily, and can be difficult to escape from. The effects of cyberbullying can be serious and long-lasting, including anxiety, depression, social isolation, and in some cases, even su***de. Victims of cyberbullying may feel helpless, ashamed, and afraid to speak out or seek help.
How To Stop Online Harassment: Laws, Reporting, & What You Can Do
Block, Mute, Report
The first option for dealing with online abuse is to block, mute, or report within the platform where the harassment took place.
Block: By blocking their account(s) on most social media platforms, you can silence the perpetrators and prevent them from viewing your profile or communicating with you in any way. This can stop harassment on one site, but persistent attackers may use fake accounts or look for other platforms to keep targeting you. Keep in mind that blocking will prevent you from recording any new harassment if you are gathering information to give to law enforcement or a lawyer.
Mute: You can "mute" certain accounts or information on some social media platforms, which means that they will no longer appear in your feed, search, or inbox. One important difference between this and blocking is this: you are just keeping yourself from seeing substance, and others on the site might in any case see disparaging or undermining posts. The perpetrator will still be able to harass you and others regardless of this.
Report: You might report a record as disregarding a virtual entertainment stage's local area rules trying to get their posting honors repudiated, or if nothing else have irritating posts taken out. Your best bet is to appeal to their internal policies regarding what might appear on their site because Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act prevents social media companies from being held liable for any comments or images posted using their service. Their team must ultimately decide whether to respond. You can begin reporting on Facebook, Instagram, Google, or Twitter by clicking these links, each of which has its own reporting procedure. Unfortunately, they frequently respond slowly.
