Building a Strong Research Culture at BSAT! ๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐จโโ๏ธ๐ท๐ทโโ๏ธ๐ฉโ๐ป๐ฑ
As part of its commitment to excellence in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), TESDA โ Buyabod School of Arts and Trade (BSAT) successfully conducted the Training on Research Proposal Development on July 14โ15, 2026 at the BSAT Function Hall, facilitated by Engr. Mark Kevien P. Real and Ms. Mayann P. Robles, Focals of Research and Innovation.
The two-day capability-building activity gathered the institutionโs faculty and staff to strengthen their competencies in conducting research and developing quality research proposals. In his opening message, Engr. Joey M. Morales, Vocational School Administrator (VSA), emphasized the institutionโs strengths while identifying areas that require further development. Recognizing these needs led to the conduct of the Training on Research Proposal Development.
Through a series of interactive lectures, workshops, and mentoring sessions, participants gained valuable knowledge on research publication, crafting research titles, writing the rationale, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, review of related literature, conceptual framework, methodology, timeline of activities, budget preparation, and the application of basic statistics in research.
This initiative reflects BSATโs dedication to the continuous professional development of its employees by cultivating a culture where research becomes an integral part of every employeeโs work. More than fulfilling institutional requirements, the training aims to inspire and encourage faculty and staff to identify workplace challenges, generate evidence-based solutions, and continuously improve programs, services, and organizational performance through research.
One of the most inspiring messages came from Dr. Arnolfo M. Monleon, who encouraged participants to start their research journey by building a research โteamโ rather than working individually at the beginning. He emphasized that collaboration fosters learning, confidence, and productivity. He also left participants with a powerful reminder:
โDonโt stop until you get your (research) certificate.โ
His words served as a challenge to persevere, complete every stage of the research process, and pursue research not merely as a requirement, but as a lifelong commitment to professional growth and institutional excellence extended to the community.
๐ Training Outputs
The participants were organized into four (4) research teams, fostering collaboration and shared learning throughout the workshop. By the end of the training, they successfully developed and presented innovative research proposals (policy and technology), each addressing relevant institutional concerns and opportunities for improvement. These outputs reflect the continues commitment of BSAT strengthening research agenda and demonstrate the participantsโ readiness to transform ideas into meaningful research initiatives.
