𝟏𝟖𝟖 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

A total of 188 student leaders participated in the 3rd Leadership Development Training themed “Converge to Lead 2025: Shaping Visionary Leaders for a Sustainable Future,” held on October 17–18 at the NISU–Victorino Salcedo Campus Gymnasium.

The two-day event was organized by the Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP) NISU-VSC Chapter in partnership with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Young Environmentalists Society Organization (YES-O) and the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS).

Dr. Renette A. Valderrama delivered the welcome remarks, followed by messages from university officials. “Leadership is not measured by how loud you speak but by how many lives you touch,” said Dr. Gilda Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Raffy B. Chavez, Campus Administrator, emphasized the importance of discipline and accountability, stating, “There is a law we need to follow. If you don’t know how to follow, you do not know how to lead an organization.”

An inspirational message was also delivered by Hon. Brix B. Bondoc, Sara SK Municipal Federation President, who reminded student leaders to serve with purpose, saying, “Don’t just aim to lead people. Aim to lift people. Don’t just work to be seen, work to make a difference.”

The morning session featured are-echo of the 2025 Midyear Interactive Youth Forum, where speakers tackled various leadership and advocacy topics.

Mr. John Emmanuel A. Isidoro, SSC President, discussed “From Campus to Country.” Mr. David G. Golingay, FLP President, talked about “Youth in Governance: Finding a Seat at the Table.”.Ms. Bernadette B. Rebalde, YES-O President, shared insights on “Mobilizing the Youth: Advocacy into Impact.”

In the afternoon, participants emgaged in group presentations titled “Emblems of Leadership: Symbols of a True Student Leader.” This followed by Plenary Talk 1, “Leading with Purpose: Aligning Vision with Sustainable Impact,” delivered by Hon. Mary Patricia A. Basinang, Sangguniang Bayan Member of Sara, Iloilo.

The second day will begin with Plenary Talk 2, “Future-Proofing Leadership: Navigating Change and Building Resilience,” presented by Ms. Emme Rose S. Santiagudo, Broadcast Production Programming Assistant I.

The training will conclude with the Declaration and Commitment Rites led by Dr. Jimmy F. de Julian Jr., Chairperson of the BS Hospitality Management Department, symbolizing the participants’ pledge to uphold leadership values and sustainable action within their respective organizations.

𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐔-𝐕𝐒𝐂 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

Northern Iloilo State University–Victorino Salcedo Campus (NISU-VSC) conducted a Wellness and Prevention Program with the theme “Strengthening Mental Health and Substance Abuse Awareness” on October 15, 2025.

The morning session, held at the NISU-VSC Hostel, gathered faculty and staff for discussions on mental health resilience and preventive measures against substance abuse. In the afternoon, the program continued at the NISU-VSC Gymnasium, where students participated in lectures and awareness activities.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Renette Valderrama, Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Director, discussed the significance of mental wellness as part of personal and academic development.

Speakers from the Department of Health–Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) included Mr. Michael Francis A. Dalipe, RN, Senior Health Program Officer; Ms. Ligaya B. Demafiles, RSW, Social Welfare Officer; and Ms. Ma. Lessette L. Libo-on, RPm, Health Program Officer.

The resource persons discussed topics on mental health awareness, early intervention, and the role of education in addressing substance abuse among the youth. They also encouraged students to support mental health advocacy.

Dr. Raffy B. Chavez, Campus Administrator, acknowledged the program’s organizers and participants for their efforts in promoting awareness on wellness and prevention.

Through this initiative, NISU-VSC continues to strengthen its commitment to building a healthier, more resilient academic community that values both mental well-being and responsible living.

𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐔-𝐕𝐒𝐂 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲

Northern Iloilo State University Victorino Sara Campus (NISU-VSC) celebrated World Teachers’ Day on October 3, 2025, honoring educators for their service and dedication.

The event opened with an inspirational song number led by Professors Jonathan Bisnar and Ivann Montero Fortuna. The celebration was organized by three major student organizations — the Supreme Student Council (SSC), Young Environmentalist Society Organization (YES-O), and the Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP).

Faculty members were welcomed with a red carpet entrance, while students offered letters, flowers, and balloons as tokens of appreciation.

To add to the event’s highlights, booths prepared by different student organizations were set up for teachers to enjoy various activities and treats. A live band performance and a 360-degree video booth were also featured to provide entertainment and capture memorable moments throughout the day.

The activity aimed to express gratitude to the teachers who continue to inspire, guide, and empower students both in their academic journey and in personal growth.
