A total of 188 student leaders participated in the 3rd Leadership Development Training themed โConverge to Lead 2025: Shaping Visionary Leaders for a Sustainable Future,โ held on October 17โ18 at the NISUโVictorino Salcedo Campus Gymnasium.
The two-day event was organized by the Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP) NISU-VSC Chapter in partnership with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Young Environmentalists Society Organization (YES-O) and the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS).
Dr. Renette A. Valderrama delivered the welcome remarks, followed by messages from university officials. โLeadership is not measured by how loud you speak but by how many lives you touch,โ said Dr. Gilda Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Raffy B. Chavez, Campus Administrator, emphasized the importance of discipline and accountability, stating, โThere is a law we need to follow. If you donโt know how to follow, you do not know how to lead an organization.โ
An inspirational message was also delivered by Hon. Brix B. Bondoc, Sara SK Municipal Federation President, who reminded student leaders to serve with purpose, saying, โDonโt just aim to lead people. Aim to lift people. Donโt just work to be seen, work to make a difference.โ
The morning session featured are-echo of the 2025 Midyear Interactive Youth Forum, where speakers tackled various leadership and advocacy topics.
Mr. John Emmanuel A. Isidoro, SSC President, discussed โFrom Campus to Country.โ Mr. David G. Golingay, FLP President, talked about โYouth in Governance: Finding a Seat at the Table.โ.Ms. Bernadette B. Rebalde, YES-O President, shared insights on โMobilizing the Youth: Advocacy into Impact.โ
In the afternoon, participants emgaged in group presentations titled โEmblems of Leadership: Symbols of a True Student Leader.โ This followed by Plenary Talk 1, โLeading with Purpose: Aligning Vision with Sustainable Impact,โ delivered by Hon. Mary Patricia A. Basinang, Sangguniang Bayan Member of Sara, Iloilo.
The second day will begin with Plenary Talk 2, โFuture-Proofing Leadership: Navigating Change and Building Resilience,โ presented by Ms. Emme Rose S. Santiagudo, Broadcast Production Programming Assistant I.
The training will conclude with the Declaration and Commitment Rites led by Dr. Jimmy F. de Julian Jr., Chairperson of the BS Hospitality Management Department, symbolizing the participantsโ pledge to uphold leadership values and sustainable action within their respective organizations.
