REMULLA: GARBAGE BIGGEST BUSINESS OF MAYORS

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla claimed that garbage collection has become the "biggest business" of mayors across the country, alleging that nearly all local chief executives are linked to irregularities in waste management contracts, with Pasig City as the lone exception he cited.

Remulla, however, did not identify any officials, contracts, or ongoing investigations to substantiate the sweeping allegation.

He also criticized the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) over its alleged shortcomings in waste management, land titling, and illegal reclamation, while stressing the need to strengthen accountability and curb impunity in government.

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Thursday rejected an alleged “ceasefire” offer which he claimed was made following his exposé involving the alleged anomalies in the flood control projects in Taguig City.

Lacson did not name who called for a ceasefire but said it was from “someone who had arbitrarily and indiscriminately opened fire without provocation.” He also called the offer as “hypocrisy aimed at buying time to recover and reconsolidate for his next sneaky move."
