DON'T BE SELFISH

Because being in a relationship only for "what you can get out of it" does nothing but set you up for failure. If you're looking for a partner that "inspires you to grow," then the focus of your relationship is on yourself.

Instead, pray for a partner that inspires you to follow Jesus.

It's not about you.
It's not about your partner.
It's about Jesus.

Praying for a partner that inspires you to follow Jesus will help both of you refocus from selfish motives to selfless motives.

Why?

Because following Jesus is a life of sacrifice for the other (Matthew 16:24), a life of serving the other (Mark 10:32), and a life of love for the other (Matthew 22:36-40).

When you are focused on Jesus, He focuses you on doing what it best for the other. Following Him will lay the foundation not only for growth, but for a significant relationship that lasts through trial, trouble, and tribulation.
