San Miguel National High School joins DepEd's 236, 000 trees -- A Christmas gift for the Children

San Miguel National High School headed by Mr. Ruperto I. Pilapil, together with the teachers YES-O Club Officers, SSLG, Barkada Kontra Droga Officers and SMNHS BSP joined the celebration of the Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity, December 6, 2023 to support DepEd's aim of promoting environmental preservation and instilling environmental responsibility among Filipino children.

This program attempts to teach environmental responsibility and encourage environmental preservation in young Filipinos. Approximately 236,000 trees will be planted nationwide in a coordinated manner by the project, in which 47,678 public schools under the Department of Education will participate.

The Department is giving this project as a gift to ensure that Filipino children and future generations would live in a clean and green environment.

By giving children the chance to actively engage in tree planting activities, the project deepens their understanding of environmental issues and supports with their efforts. Students will acquire a strong sense of environmental responsibility through engaging with this activity.

Planting trees will improve the aesthetics of school grounds in addition to the educational benefits.

Furthermore, planting trees has numerous health benefits. Trees absorb harmful pollutants from the air and release oxygen, leading to improved air quality.

This creates a healthier environment for students, teachers, and staff, reducing the risk of respiratory diseases and promoting overall well-being.
