It is super rare to see the universe put on a show like this! 🌕✨🌌
Ever wonder what happens when two of the most beautiful sights in the night sky collide? On April 15, 2014, the residents of Yellowknife, Canada, witnessed a "once-in-a-lifetime" celestial event.
A Total Lunar Eclipse (the famous "Blood Moon") happened at the exact same time as a powerful Geomagnetic Storm.
Why was this so special?
The Blood Moon: Earth’s shadow turned the moon a deep, eerie red.
The Aurora: Vibrant green Northern Lights danced right across the eclipsed moon. Usually, a bright full moon washes out the aurora, but because the moon was darkened by the eclipse, both were visible in stunning detail!
A Guest Star: Mars was also seen shining bright red right next to the moon.
This incredible view over Houseboat Bay and Great Slave Lake remains one of the most iconic moments in astronomical history. Nature really is the best artist! 🎨✨
