Severe Tropical Storm Opong (Bualoi) passed Romblon Friday morning, September 26, 2025, as it moved westward toward southern Mindoro, Pagasa said in its latest report.
At 10 a.m., the storm’s center was over the coastal waters of Ferrol, Romblon, carrying maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h and gusts up to 150 km/h. It was moving west at 35 km/h.
Signal No. 3: Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro; northern Aklan and Caluya Island.
Signal No. 2: Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Bataan, Pampanga (south), Bulacan (south), Camarines Sur (south), Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Calamian and Cuyo Islands; plus, northern Cebu (Daanbantayan, Medellin, Bantayan Islands), northern Negros Occidental, northern Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, northern Antique, parts of Samar and Northern Samar.
Signal No. 1: Central Cebu (including Cebu City, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Toledo, Talisay, Naga, Carcar, Camotes Islands), northern Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Northern and Eastern Samar, and much of Western Visayas.
Pagasa warned of storm surge of up to 1 to 3 meters possible in coastal areas of Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Bicol, Northern Samar, Panay, and Negros Occidental.
Sea travel is dangerous across Luzon and Visayas due to a very rough to high seas up to 9 meters in Romblon and surrounding waters.
Flooding and landslides remain possible outside the direct landfall area due to strong winds and heavy rains enhanced by the southwest monsoon.
Opong is forecast to make landfall in southern Occidental Mindoro by noon or early afternoon, then move into the Mindoro Strait on evening before exiting into the West Philippine Sea. It may re-intensify over open waters and could leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday afternoon, September 27.
