This is your sign to start your “Balik-Alindog” 2025 goals!

The Tacloban-Palo Coastal Road, a project by DPWH, offers more than its primary purpose as a disaster resilience initiative. It's an incredible spot for jogging, cycling, or simply walking. Spanning 10 to 12 kilometers from San Jose, Tacloban City, to the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte, this route is both accessible and inspiring. The views along the way, especially during sunrise or sunset, create an experience that's both calming and invigorating.

If you’re new to jogging, an average pace of 6 to 7 minutes per kilometer means you’d finish the route in about 1 to 1.5 hours. But the beauty of this route is that you can go at your own pace—whether you’re running, walking, or exploring on two wheels.

To make the most out of your fitness routine, consider installing running apps like Strava. These tools can track your steps, distance, and even calories burned, helping you set achievable goals and monitor your progress effectively. After your run, reward yourself with a refreshing drink of fresh coconut water—an underrated treat sold by local vendors along the way.

Jogging doesn’t require a big budget; all you need are comfortable shoes and the determination to take that first step toward a healthier lifestyle. Starting your route in San Jose and finishing at MacArthur Park gives you the chance to see breathtaking views and enjoy a sense of accomplishment when you reach your destination.

Set your goals, enjoy the coastal views, and see how this amazing route can redefine your fitness goals!

Diin maabot an imo 3,500 pesos?

Monte Alto Eco Resort Villas in Villaba, Leyte is the answer! For just 3,500 pesos, you can stay in a Bali-inspired eco villa for two with breakfast included. This magical spot combines stunning natural beauty with a sense of exclusivity that will make your stay unforgettable.

The resort is located about a two-hour drive from Tacloban City if you’re traveling by private car. While I couldn’t confirm the details for public transportation, this is definitely on my list of things to check next time! Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by their friendly and accommodating staff. During my visit, it was raining, but one of the staff members immediately brought out a big umbrella to help me. They also provided a welcome pineapple drink, which was a nice touch. Parking is safe and available for guests.

Here’s a breakdown of their room and villa prices if you plan to stay overnight:

Eco Villa Rates:

- Villa Blanco (1 Double Bed + Breakfast for 2): P3,500
- Villa Verde (1 Double Bed + Breakfast for 2): P3,500
- Villa Azul (1 Double Bed + Breakfast for 2): P3,500
- Villa Naranja (Loft, 2 Double Beds + Breakfast for 2): P4,000
- Villa Amarillo (1 Double Bed with Private Dipping Pool + Breakfast for 2): P5,000
- Villa Rosa (2 Double Beds with Net Patio + Breakfast for 4): P6,500
- Villa Rojo (1 Double Bed and 4 Single Beds + Breakfast for 6): P8,500
- Villa Morado (3 Double Beds with Private Dipping Pool + Breakfast for 6): P12,500

One of the highlights of my stay was their floating breakfast for P1,500, which was perfect for two people. The food was so much that I couldn’t even finish it! For other activities, here’s what they offer (note that bookings must be made in advance):

- Floating Breakfast for 2: P1,500
- Kawa Bath: P500/person
- Alto Swing (Bali-style): P250/person
- Whole Body Massage: P500/person

The infinity pool at Monte Alo is breathtaking. You can swim while enjoying majestic views of the mountains, trees, and ocean. For those looking for added privacy, some villas come with their own dipping pools. The outdoor toilet design was also an interesting feature—it’s unique and added a special touch to the experience.

Another big plus is their fast wifi connection, making it easy for digital nomads or those working remotely to stay connected. I also didn’t encounter any issues with cellphone signal, which is rare for places like this.

However, a friendly reminder—this eco-resort is surrounded by nature, so expect to see insects and small animals during your stay. If you love nature and want a peaceful retreat, this place is perfect for you. Lastly, don’t forget to dispose of your trash properly and respect the plants and animals during your visit.

Tacloban Buzz: The Weekender Art Market and Hangout

The Weekender Tacloban Art Market and Hangout was a full-on feast for the senses! Walking into the venue, we were instantly swept up in a pure creative energy. Everywhere you turned, there was something new and exciting to discover.

There were booths overflowing with everything from stickers, illustrations, handmade crafts, unique accessories and curated thrift clothes, instax photobooth, and other fun activities.

But the real magic? Meeting the incredible local artists, crafters, and small business owners who poured their hearts into their work! It was a beautiful vibe – creatives supporting creatives in a celebration of pure talent. 🎨

The atmosphere was truly special. It wasn't just a market, it was a community celebration of creativity. People were laughing, sharing stories, and just basking in the joy of art. It was inspiring to see everyone expressing themselves so freely. It felt like everyone was radiating their own unique light. ✨

It was a must-experience event for anyone who loves creativity, community, and the pure joy of self-expression.

Cravings and Adventures #1: Baybay's Cozy Froyo Haven

Last Thursday, I craved a break from the usual grind and decided to head to Baybay for a much-needed breather. With no specific plans in mind, I arrived around 3 PM, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty. That's when fate led me to Tutti Café by Ramsey’s, the first and only Frozen Yogurt Cafe in Baybay City. 🍦

Tutti Café was an absolute charmer. The place had this cute, laid-back vibe to it. I loved the way the light just danced through the shop, creating such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I also sank into the comfiest, cutest sofa I've seen in ages. It was like a fluffy cloud perfectly placed in that adorable shop. I would say that it was totally the cherry on top of Tutti's charming look.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. They had a genuine enthusiasm for their work, and their helpfulness and positive vibes definitely added to the overall enjoyable experience.

Most importantly, their menu was a froyo lover's dream come true. They had everything from creamy soft serve to tangy frozen yogurt, with a mind-boggling array of toppings to choose from. But what really caught my eye was their froyo loaded with fresh fruits as it looked absolutely irresistible! 🤩

Overall rating: 9/10 ✨

If you're craving a top-notch froyo in town, Tutti Café by Ramsey’s is definitely worth a try!

Tacloban Buzz: Unwinding Bliss at Namaste Skin Care, Spa, and Massage

After a brutal month of exams in med school, our team were desperate for some serious pampering. Thankfully, we stumbled upon the newest gem in Robinson's Place Tacloban - Namaste Skin Care, Spa, & Massage - Tacloban! ✨

The moment we walked through the door at Namaste, we knew we were in for a treat. The entrance was clean and inviting, and the atmosphere inside was pure zen. The lighting was perfect, not too bright, not too dim, and the whole place had this calming vibe that instantly melted away some of our stress. Plus, everything - the rooms, towels, linens - was sparkling clean and fresh-smelling, which is always a big plus for us. However, there was one element that slightly disrupted the peaceful ambiance. Being located within the mall, occasional noises and sights from outside drifted in. To truly achieve 100% comfort and privacy for the customers, perhaps adding curtains or tasteful displays on the windows would be a great improvement.

We opted for the foot spa and the 1.5-hour Namaste signature massage, and let me tell you, the foot spa was the perfect way to start the pampering session. It was warm, soothing, and really helped to ease away any tension in our feet.

The staff at Namaste were friendly, courteous, and professional from the moment we greeted them. Before we even started, they talked to us about what kind of pressure we preferred and made sure we were comfortable, and throughout the whole massage, they kept everything appropriately covered and respected our space - huge points for that! They also used a whole bunch of different techniques, and it felt like they could just feel where we were holding all our tension. After our massage, they offered us water, tea, or coffee - the perfect touch to rehydrate and extend the relaxed feeling.

Lastly, the price for each service at Namaste was reasonable, considering the quality of the experience we received.

Overall rating: 8/10 😉

If you're in Tacloban and need a break from the hustle, this is the place to go! Your stressed-out self will thank you! ✨

Social Climber Guide #1: Luxurious Dining at Drake's Restaurant and Bar PH

Sometimes, especially on payday or special occasions, we want to treat ourselves to experiences that are usually reserved for the elite. Who wouldn't want to indulge in out-of-this-world dishes, VIP treatment, extravagance, and Instagram-worthy moments?

Every time I visit Robinsons Marasbaras, I'm always curious about this newly opened restaurant. You can't miss it with its luxurious exterior and the impeccably dressed staff waiting to welcome guests. It's clear this place caters to the rich and famous of Leyte. 😂

Jokes aside, I had made it my goal to dine there at least once. Luckily, my classmates and I chose it for my despedida celebration. The preparations were intense—choosing the perfect outfit, budgeting, and embracing my inner social climber.

The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warm smiles. The ambiance was incredibly cozy. Though I tried to keep a poker face, my excitement was through the roof! 😂

We ordered a variety of dishes, and I initially worried about my 3,000 pesos budget. But the barista's cocktail tricks distracted us while we waited. When our food arrived, the presentation was stunning—straight out of a Kdrama or Instagram feed. Naturally, we snapped plenty of photos for social media clout.

The food? Absolutely delicious! And no, this isn’t a sponsored post. We ordered several dishes, and our total bill came to 3,715 pesos—much less than I anticipated. We couldn’t even finish everything; it was too much for the four of us.

Oyster (10/10) - 325 pesos
Breakfast Paella (8.5/10) - 575 pesos
Curry Risotto (8.5/10) - 395 pesos
Margherita (9/10) - 625 pesos
Pesto and Grilled Chicken (8.5/10) - 465 pesos
Cinco Leches (8/10) - 295 pesos
Matcha Brulee (7/10) - 355 pesos
Blueberry Fizz (8/10) - 165 pesos
Pineapple Passion, 2 (8/10) - 350 pesos
Rosey Coco (8.5/10) - 165 pesos

Dining at Drake’s was a fantastic experience. I was intimidated at first, but the staff made us feel so welcome and ensured we were comfortable throughout.

Would I recommend Drake’s? Definitely! My experience was a solid 9/10. 🌟

PS: Trying new things and seeking extraordinary experiences is totally okay. Don’t let others dictate what you should or shouldn't do. As long as you're spending your hard-earned money ethically and legally, you're doing great.

If I had let my intimidation win, I wouldn’t have created such wonderful memories or tried their amazing pizza. 🍕

Tacloban Buzz: Café Summit Opens at Summit Hotel Tacloban

The Lakbay.ph team recently checked out the newly opened Café Summit at Summit Hotel Tacloban. This is an unsponsored, unfiltered review of our experience.

Upon entering the cafe, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff—a big thumbs up to Summit for their consistently excellent service. The positive energy was contagious, and the atmosphere felt upbeat and welcoming. We had anticipated some changes to the interior, as this location was formerly Patron Casual Dining, but everything remained virtually the same. The only additions were a few stalls for cakes, pastries, and coffee.

For its service will rate it 10/10
For interior 7/10

After settling in, we tried their macchiato and latte. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. For a high-end hotel, we expected something more than a basic cup. The presentation felt a bit cheap, and while the taste was decent, it wasn't anything extraordinary. However, the prices were reasonable.

We ordered the following:

1. Meaty Spaghetti (355 pesos): 7/10 (Generous portion, good flavor, perfect for sharing)
2. Creamy Truffle Linguine (385 pesos): 8.5/10 (A must-try! Delicious and filling)
3. Baked Mac & Cheese (220 pesos): 9/10 (Highly recommended)
4. Parmesan Chicken Fingers (275 pesos): 5/10 (Bland and dry, even with the sauce)
5. Jose Cuervo Gold (1 shot) (160 pesos): 9/10 (Very smooth)
6. Summit Lady by Day (190 pesos): 7/10 (A refreshing drink, ideal for summer)
7. Macchiato & Latte Iced Coffee (140 pesos each): 7/10 (Tastes similar to Don Macchiato Coffee, which costs 39 pesos)

Total: 1,510 pesos (service fee not included)

Overall rating: 7/10 - Worth a visit, especially for the friendly staff!

Café Summit is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and is conveniently located beside Robinsons Place Tacloban.
