THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN: ANNUNCIATION OF THE LORD & IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
We are about to celebrate the solemnity of the Annunciation—also known as the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary. Most Catholics find Immaculate Conception and Annunciation confusing. They usually merge the two celebrations in one—that Immaculate Conception is the conception of Jesus in Mary's womb.
Catholics should not confuse Immaculate Conception with the conception of Jesus Christ. The Conception of Jesus is being celebrated with the Solemnity of the Annunciation on March 25, which is exactly nine months before Christmas day, the nativity of our Lord.
While the Immaculate Conception (Celebration date: December 8) deals with the conception of our BLESSED MOTHER IN THE WOMB OF HER MOTHER, SAINT ANNE. Moreover, Immaculate conception, is not also the birthday of our Heavenly Mother. Adding nine months (duration of normal conception of a baby) from December 8 leads to September 8, the celebration of the nativity of Our Lady.
