Some moments don’t arrive with thunder. They come quietly—soft as a sigh, fleeting as a glance.
A smile you never forgot. A word that stayed.
A silence that spoke louder than sound.

We don’t always notice them, yet they stay with us, etched in memory.

Look back. Look around. What fleeting moment, however small, has stayed with you longer than expected? This is your chance to hold it in your hands—to write it down, to turn that whisper into a voice, that stillness into a story.

The WORD presents to you the theme of this year's Summer Literary Folio, 𝐃𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐠 𝐬𝐚 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦 | 𝑬𝒄𝒉𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓

𝐝𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐠 [𝐝𝐚.𝐡ú.𝐧𝐮𝐠.]
noun
: a deep prolonged loud noise

𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦 [𝐡í.𝐥𝐮𝐦.]
noun
: silent, soundless, still

See beyond the obvious. Pay attention to what’s easily missed—the subtle gestures, the soft moments, the echoes of what was once just a whisper. Through poetry and prose, let your story reveal the beauty of what others might overlook.

Submit your poetry (with rhyme scheme or in free verse) and prose (flash fictions) in Binisaya, Filipino, or English to The WORD's Gmail or Facebook accounts.

𝐆𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: [email protected]
𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: https://www.facebook.com/thewordhnubohol

• Open to all bona fide college students of Holy Name University.

• The submitted literary pieces must be original and have not been published in any online or physical journals, folios, or issues.

• Contributors may submit as many entries as they like.

• All submissions must contain either the author's complete name or pen name, following the format (CONTRIBUTION_LastName-LitFolio), as the email subject or file name.
Ex. (CONTRIBUTION_BRILLANTES-LitFolio).

• The WORD will accept contributions from 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.

• The WORD reserves the right to edit or reject any contributions.

A quiet glance exchanged during a difficult day. An old message you never expected to need, but did. A classmate who waited for you when everyone else had gone ahead. A stranger’s kind words that found you at the right time.

We call them small moments—fleeting gestures we rarely pause to notice. And yet, they carve themselves deep, leaving echoes we carry without knowing.

If you've ever been moved by something soft and unspoken, if a whisper ever left its mark, this is your moment to give it voice. Let your stories rise from the quiet.

The WORD proudly presents the 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 with the theme 𝐃𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐠 𝐬𝐚 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦 | 𝑬𝒄𝒉𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓.

This contest is an annual literary writing contest organized by The WORD's Editorial Board and Staff to pay tribute to the late Dr. Michele Rellita, an inspiring writer, educator, and former adviser of The WORD, whose unwavering dedication and guidance greatly shaped the publication and the lives of many WORDians.

The contest is open to all bona fide 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 of Holy Name University. Entries may be submitted in either 𝐩𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞, written in 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡, 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨, 𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚.

Participants must submit their entries to 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝.𝐡𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥@𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦. Submissions are open from 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.

Full guidelines and requirements can be found in the photos below. Winning entries will be featured in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃’𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨: 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐗𝐗𝐗𝐈𝐈𝐈 | 𝐀.𝐘. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.

Weave silence into words. Breathe meaning into what memory left behind. Best of Luck, Holynamians!

𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝟏𝟕𝟏𝒔𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒉𝒐𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒚!

Today, we celebrate the 171st Foundation Day of Bohol, a province that embodies the perfect blend of rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and unwavering resilience.

This day is not just about the founding of Bohol but also about honoring the spirit of the Boholanos—people who have shown strength and determination in shaping the province into a vibrant hub for tourism and agriculture while preserving its natural beauty.

May this occasion inspire all Boholanos to continue fostering unity, responsibility, and pride and ensure that Bohol’s legacy remains alive for generations to come.

The WORD proudly presents the panel of judges for the 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 with the theme: “𝑫𝒂𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒐𝒈 𝒔𝒂 𝑯𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒎 | 𝑬𝒄𝒉𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓.”

With eyes trained to catch brilliance in the subtle, and hearts attuned to meaning hidden in the quiet, our judges are seekers of the glance that lingers, the joke that wounds, and the storm tucked behind silence. Like magnifying glasses held to memory, they will read between the lines, unraveling the vastness within the smallest moments.

To those who have carried quiet things that changed everything, this is your moment. 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝.𝐡𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥@𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.

𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑻𝒂𝒈𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒂𝒚!

Today, we celebrate the proud legacy of Tagbilaran City, the City of Friendship, as we honor the historic declaration that transformed our home into the vibrant cultural and economic hub it is today.

Tagbilaran's identity is deeply rooted in the spirit of unity and collaboration. From the historic Blood Compact of 1565 between Datu Sikatuna and Miguel López de Legazpi—a timeless symbol of peace and harmony—to the shared resilience that defines our community today, these values continue to inspire us as Tagbilaranons.

As we commemorate this special day, let us reflect on the milestones of those who came before us and carry forward their legacy. Together, may we build a future where friendship, solidarity, and boundless potential remain at the heart of our city's progress.
