| Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, lead defense counsel of former President Rodrigo Duterte, clapped back at Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro by describing her job as “peddling the misinformation of her own administration.”
In an ambush interview in the Hague, Kaufman called on Castro “not to interfere” with his job as a legal counsel of former President Duterte in the crimes against humanity cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Well, I’d kindly thank Claire Castro not to interfere with the job that I'm doing, just as much as I wouldn’t interfere with the job that she’s doing: peddling the misinformation of her own administration,” Kaufman said.
“All I can say is that she seems to have a rather unhealthy obsession with me,” Kaufman added.
This is in response to Castro’s recent remark that told Kaufman to “do better” and focus on researching facts in order to defend his client instead of proving his “unlawful” arrest.
