READ: Senator Rodante Marcoleta is about to take center stage in a politically explosive Senate probe.

On June 4, he leads the Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing into the flood control infrastructure scandal, with formal notices set to go out on June 1.

But the hearing is already politically loaded before it even begins.

Marcoleta himself is under pressure, after claiming that plunder and bribery accusations against him were fabricated in response to his earlier revelations on the flood control controversy. That immediately turns the probe into a situation where the lead investigator is also politically entangled in related accusations.

Inside the Senate, the ground is already fractured.

The Ombudsman is pointing to a possible mastermind behind the scandal. Senator Panfilo Lacson is rejecting that entirely. Two opposing interpretations of the same case are now set to collide inside the hearing room.

While Marcoleta prepares to preside, other senators are already in different stages of legal or political scrutiny tied to broader corruption allegations surrounding infrastructure funds.

Francis Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, and Joel Villanueva are all facing separate investigations or judicial reviews connected to the same corruption ecosystem being examined.

That widens the scope of what the public thought was a single inquiry into something much larger and more volatile.

Senator Imee Marcos is now pushing to escalate the probe further, calling for additional witnesses including Zaldy Co, Adrian Bersamin, and a group referred to as the 18 Marines.

What starts on June 4 is no longer just a Senate hearing.

It is a situation where the person leading the probe is already part of the controversy, and the chamber itself is split on what truth even looks like.

READ: One in three Filipino adults now suffers from hypertension, affecting an estimated 16.8 million people nationwide, but many cases are still going undetected because people don’t get screened early enough.

Now, a new nationwide health initiative is bringing free blood pressure and blood sugar screening directly to communities.

Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines, together with Mercury Drug and the Philippine Society of Hypertension, has launched “Suki Healthwatch,” a program offering free screenings and doctor consultations in selected Mercury Drug branches from May to July 2026.

The campaign comes as health experts continue warning that many Filipinos only discover they have hypertension after suffering serious complications like stroke, heart disease, or kidney problems.

Participating branches include locations in Quezon City, Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Cavite, Bulacan, Parañaque, San Juan, and Laguna.

Doctors on-site will also help patients understand their results and guide them on possible next steps for treatment and prevention.

The initiative is part of Hypertension Awareness Month and the global May Measure Month campaign, which pushes for earlier detection and stronger preventive healthcare efforts worldwide.

With hypertension remaining one of the country’s biggest silent killers, organizers hope the free screenings can encourage more Filipinos to finally check their numbers before it’s too late.

READ: Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is now openly suggesting politics may be behind the rapid filing of cases against him after the change in Senate leadership.

In a fiery statement following the filing of cases before the Sandiganbayan, Estrada said it was “very noticeable” that cases involving members of the Senate majority bloc suddenly started moving quickly after the leadership transition inside the chamber.

The senator questioned why the Ombudsman allegedly rushed to file the case barely a week after the Department of Justice released its resolution, claiming there was supposedly no full independent fact-finding investigation first despite earlier assurances of an “independent review.”

Estrada also insisted key evidence clearing his name was ignored, including a Senate Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office letter which allegedly states there was no record showing he inserted anything into the 2025 national budget.

He further complained that he was not even given enough time to properly study the DOJ and Ombudsman resolutions before the case was elevated to the Sandiganbayan, calling it a serious violation of due process.

But the strongest part of his statement came when he hinted he may now be paying the political price for standing by his principles.

“If this is the price that I have to pay for standing by my principles and for what I believe in, then so be it,” Estrada declared.

Despite the escalating controversy, the senator vowed to continue fighting to clear his name and uncover what he described as the truth through legal means.

The explosive remarks immediately fueled speculation online over possible political pressure, Senate power struggles, and selective prosecution.

READ: foodpanda Philippines says it distributed more than ₱62 million in extra incentives to its Ka-panda delivery foodpanda riders from March to May 2026 through nationwide delivery quests designed to boost rider earnings.

Under the Ka-panda Motorcycle Quest program, riders in Metro Manila and nearby provinces unlocked additional payouts simply by completing delivery targets throughout the day, with no complicated extra requirements attached.

According to foodpanda, around 95% of active riders joined and completed the incentive quests, showing massive participation across the platform.

The company said the initiative was designed to help riders earn more flexibly while continuing their regular delivery operations amid rising fuel prices and daily expenses.

foodpanda Rider Experience Lead Ron Sanders said the platform also continues to offer weekly quests that allow riders to unlock more bonuses based on completed deliveries, attendance, and acceptance rates.

For many riders, the extra earnings reportedly became a major help for daily living costs.

Ka-panda rider Hervie Agustin said the additional incentives helped cover gasoline expenses and provide extra support for his family’s everyday needs.

The company also highlighted its recent Labor Day Double-Tipping campaign, where customers generated more than ₱1.2 million in in-app tips for riders. foodpanda matched the total amount peso-for-peso, resulting in ₱2.4 million in rider payouts.

The programs are part of foodpanda’s broader Panda-Malasakit Project, which focuses on rider welfare, flexible earnings, and community-driven support initiatives nationwide.

READ: Sen. Imee Marcos is once again stirring political tension after calling on fellow lawmakers to stop focusing on “political drama” and instead address the worsening poverty faced by ordinary Filipinos.

During a press conference, Marcos slammed what she described as endless distractions inside government, including alleged efforts to protect personalities behind controversial flood control projects and the aggressive impeachment moves against political rivals.

She also warned against talks of Charter change, term extensions, and even alleged “no election” scenarios for 2028, saying none of these would help Filipinos already struggling with rising prices and global instability triggered by the Iran conflict.

The senator pushed back against accusations that she and her allies were damaging the Senate’s image, insisting that the institution’s credibility is actually being destroyed by supposed cover-ups inside the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee and the sudden disappearance of key witnesses.

Marcos further claimed that some officials and lawmakers were allegedly offering cash incentives and infrastructure projects to push support for Charter change.

On the controversial flood control issue, she demanded accountability for the masterminds behind the multi-billion peso anomalies, questioning why nobody has supposedly been arrested or punished despite the huge controversy.

She also called on the Senate to summon Sgt. Guteza, 18 Philippine Marines, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to explain their alleged involvement in the issue.

The explosive statements immediately reignited online debate over Charter change, corruption allegations, and the escalating political war inside the Senate.

READ: Sen. Raffy Tulfo openly blasted Sen. Imee Marcos’ explosive Senate presentation, calling it a “hao siao presentation” and warning against turning the plenary into a platform for conspiracy theories and fake news.

The heated clash erupted after Imee Marcos delivered a privilege speech claiming there were alleged moves inside government to push Charter change, extend terms of officials until 2031, lower the presidential age requirement to 35, and even cancel the 2028 elections.

But several senators immediately pushed back hard.

Tulfo mocked the controversial AVP shown during the speech, saying it was the first time he had seen such a “hao siao” presentation inside the Senate, adding that lawmakers should stop using the chamber for baseless conspiracy theories.

Sen. Migz Zubiri even called the video “horrible propaganda” and moved to have it stricken from Senate records, while Sens. Kiko Pangilinan, Risa Hontiveros, JV Ejercito, Tito Sotto, and Ping Lacson also slammed the claims as fake news or exaggerated political gossip.

The drama became so intense that Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano later appealed to Imee Marcos to voluntarily withdraw the video from the official record, which she eventually agreed to do.

Still, before backing down, Imee challenged fellow senators to publicly guarantee there would be no term extension and that elections would still happen in 2028.

The explosive exchange instantly triggered online debate as accusations of fake news, propaganda, and political maneuvering once again exploded inside the Senate.
