Blessed Luke Belludi

Ang Mahal na Luke Belludi (c. 1200–1286)
Si Mahal na Luke Belludi ay isang Italyanong prayleng Franciscano na tanyag bilang malapit na kasama, katulong, at kahalili ni San Antonio ng Padua. Nakilala siya dahil sa kanyang kababaang-loob, matalas na pag-iisip, at walang pag-aalinlangang katapatan sa kanyang paglilingkod. Siya ay itinuturing na patron ng mga estudyante sa unibersidad. Ang kanyang kapistahan ay karaniwang ipinagdiriwang tuwing Pebrero 17, at sa ilang tradisyon ay Pebrero 24.

Buhay at Ministeryo

Maagang Edukasyon: Ipinanganak si Luke sa isang mayaman at marangal na pamilya sa Padua. Mahusay siya sa kanyang pag-aaral sa unibersidad habang pinananatili ang malalim na diwa ng panalangin at pagiging mahinahon.

Pagtawag sa Buhay-Franciscano: Noong 1220, naantig si Luke sa pangangaral ni San Antonio at hiniling niyang sumali sa Friars Minor. Personal siyang inirekomenda ni Antonio kay San Francisco ng Assisi, na siya mismo ang nagbihis kay Luke ng kasuotang panrelihiyon.

Kasama ni San Antonio: Naging pangunahing katulong siya ni Antonio sa mga paglalakbay at misyon ng pangangaral sa hilagang Italya. Inalagaan niya si Antonio sa panahon ng kanyang mga huling karamdaman at nanatili sa kanyang tabi noong siya ay nasa kanyang higaan ng kamatayan noong 1231.

Ang Pagpapalaya sa Padua

Pagkamatay ni Antonio, itinalaga si Luke bilang tagapangasiwa ng mga prayle sa Padua. Nang sakupin ng malupit na tirano na si Ezzelino da Romano ang Padua, ipinatapon niya ang mga pinuno ng lungsod at naiwan na hindi pa tapos ang Basilica ni San Antonio. Ipinatapon din si Luke, ngunit palihim siyang bumalik upang manalangin.

Habang gabi-gabing nagbabantay at nananalangin si Luke sa libingan ni San Antonio kasama ang isa pang prayle, isang makahulang tinig ang umalingawngaw mula sa puntod, na nagsasabing malapit nang mapalaya ang lungsod. Natupad ang hulang ito noong Hunyo 19, 1256, nang mapalaya ng mga puwersang papal na nakipaglaban sa krusada ang Padua.

Pamana at Pagpupugay

Ang Dakilang Basilica: Matapos bumagsak ang malupit na tirano, nahalal si Luke bilang provincial minister at pinangunahan niya ang pagkumpleto sa maringal na Basilica ni San Antonio ng Padua.

Lugar ng Kanyang Paglilibing: Namatay si Luke noong 1286 at inilibing sa loob ng basilica, sa mismong marmol na sarcophagus na dating pinaglagyan ng katawan ni San Antonio.

Beatification: Dahil sa matagal nang debosyon at pagpupugay ng mga tao sa kanya, pormal na kinilala ang kanyang beatification noong Mayo 18, 1927, nang siya ay i-beatify ni Papa Pio XI.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang kanyang puntod ay matatagpuan sa magandang Kapilya ni Mahal na Luke Belludi, na pinalamutian ng mga fresco, sa loob ng basilica sa Padua.

Blessed Lucy of Caltagirone

Mapalad na Lucy ng Caltagirone (humigit-kumulang 1360–1400)

Si Mapalad na Lucy ng Caltagirone ay isang madre ng mga Franciscano sa Italya na nakilala dahil sa kanyang buhay ng mistikal na pananalangin, mahigpit na penitensiya, at buong pusong paglilingkod sa mga mahihirap. Isinilang siya sa isang marangal na pamilya sa Caltagirone, Sicily. Ang kanyang kapistahan ay ipinagdiriwang ng mga Orden Franciscano tuwing Setyembre 26.

Maagang Buhay at Mahimalang Proteksiyon

Ayon sa mga salaysay ng buhay ng mga banal sa tradisyong Franciscano, inalagaan at pinrotektahan ng Langit si Lucy mula pa noong kanyang pagkabata. Noong bata pa siya, isang biglaang malakas at marahas na bagyo ang dumating habang namimitas siya ng mga igos mula sa isang puno. Tinamaan ng kidlat ang puno at ito ay nabiyak, dahilan upang mahulog si Lucy sa lupa.

Mahimalang nailigtas siya at dinala sa isang ligtas na lugar ng isang matandang lalaki na nagpakilalang si San Nicolas. Sinabi nito kay Lucy na kinuha niya siya sa ilalim ng kanyang natatanging proteksiyon. Mula noon, buong-buo niyang itinalaga ang kanyang sarili sa mga gawaing banal at sa pagtulong sa mga mahihirap.

Buhay Relihiyoso sa Salerno

Nang siya ay nasa murang gulang ng pagiging ganap na babae, nakilala ni Lucy ang isang Franciscan Tertiary mula sa Salerno na dumalaw sa Sicily. Dahil sa kanyang debosyon at kabanalan, naimpluwensiyahan si Lucy na sumapi sa Franciscan Third Order Regular at lumipat sa Salerno, Campania.

Tagapagturo ng mga Novice:

Sa kumbento ng Salerno, kalaunan ay naging tagapagturo siya ng mga bagong kasapi o novice. Itinuro niya sa kanila ang malalim at taimtim na debosyon sa limang sugat ni Kristo.

Buhay ng Penitensiya:

Ginugol niya ang nalalabing bahagi ng kanyang buhay sa isang mahigpit na pamumuhay na nakatuon sa katahimikan at pagmumuni-muni, masidhing pananalangin, at malalim na pagmamahal at pagkakawanggawa sa mga maysakit at mahihirap.

Mga Himala at Pagpupugay

Ang kabanalan ni Mapalad na Lucy ay pinagtibay ng maraming himalang iniulat na naganap kapwa noong siya ay nabubuhay pa at pagkatapos ng kanyang kamatayan. Siya ay partikular na hinihingan ng pamamagitan bilang patrona para sa pagpapagaling ng mga sakit sa mata at para sa mga bulag.

Ang kanyang pormal na kulto at debosyon ay nakatanggap ng makasaysayang pag-apruba mula kina Papa Sixtus III at Papa Leo X.

Saint Lucy

Si Santa Lucia, na kilala rin bilang Lucia ng Syracuse, ay isang batang Kristiyanong martir na namatay noong 304 AD sa panahon ng matinding pag-uusig sa mga Kristiyano sa ilalim ni Emperador Diocletian. Isa siya sa mga pinakaunang babaeng banal na malawak na iginagalang sa kasaysayan ng Kristiyanismo, at tanyag na binabanggit ang kanyang pangalan sa Roman Canon ng Misa. Ang kanyang pangalan ay nagmula sa salitang Latin na lux, na nangangahulugang “liwanag,” kaya naging makapangyarihan siyang simbolo ng espirituwal na liwanag na tumatagos sa kadiliman.

Ang Kuwento ng Kanyang Pagkamartir

Ayon sa tradisyon, isinilang si Lucia sa isang mayaman at marangal na pamilya sa Syracuse, Sicily. Lihim siyang nangako na iaalay ang kanyang pagkabirhen sa Diyos. Matagumpay niyang nahikayat ang kanyang ina na ipamahagi ang kanilang kayamanan sa mga mahihirap matapos na makahimalang gumaling ang kanyang ina mula sa isang sakit na nagdudulot ng matinding pagdurugo habang nananalangin sa libingan ni Santa Agatha.

Galit na galit ang kanyang paganong manliligaw dahil sa pagkawala ng kanyang dote, kaya isinumbong niya si Lucia bilang isang Kristiyano kay Paschasius, ang gobernador ng Syracuse. Nang tumanggi siyang mag-alay sa mga diyus-diyosan ng mga Romano, hinatulan siya ng gobernador na dalhin sa isang bahay-aliwan upang lapastanganin. Ang kanyang kapistahan ay ipinagdiriwang tuwing Disyembre 13 sa mga tradisyong Kristiyano sa Kanluran at Silangan. Dahil ang kanyang kapistahan ay ipinagdiriwang malapit sa winter solstice, ito ay naugnay sa mga tanyag na pagdiriwang ng liwanag sa panahon ng taglamig:

Sa mga bansang tulad ng Sweden, ang panganay na anak na babae sa isang pamilya ay nagsusuot ng puting damit na may pulang sintas at ng isang maningning na koronang may mga kandila sa kanyang ulo. Siya ay nakikibahagi sa prusisyon tuwing umaga at naghahain ng tradisyonal na saffron buns.
