UPDATE: DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said it is not an acceptable reason for the father of the student involved in the Ateneo de Zamboanga University shooting to have allegedly left his fi****ms inside the vehicle that brought the student to school on Tuesday, August 18.

According to Remulla, firearm owners have a responsibility to ensure that their guns are properly secured and do not fall into unauthorized hands.

Reports also indicated that the fi****ms were allegedly able to enter the university campus because security personnel were no longer conducting inspections of students arriving by vehicle.

The incident has renewed questions over firearm accountability, gun storage, and security protocols in schools, particularly in preventing unauthorized access to weapons on campus.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

BREAKING: U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly pushing his aides to arrange an in-person meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this year, according to U.S. media reports.

Trump has privately discussed the possibility of meeting Kim during his next planned trip to Asia, raising the prospect of renewed high-level diplomacy between Washington and Pyongyang.

Trump and Kim previously held three meetings during Trump's first term, including the historic 2018 Singapore summit and their 2019 meeting in Hanoi, where talks on North Korea’s nuclear program and sanctions ultimately broke down.

A new Trump-Kim meeting, if arranged, could have significant implications for North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, U.S.-North Korea relations, and security on the Korean Peninsula.

BREAKING: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confirmed that one of the fi****ms reportedly used by the Grade 9 student in the shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) was issued to his father, who is a Customs police officer.

The father also reportedly personally owned the other firearm used in the incident, which was likewise legally licensed.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the issue of firearm-owner accountability should be examined, particularly when legally owned fi****ms are used in criminal acts.

"It's accountability that we should examine. It appears that the shooter used legally issued fi****ms from the father. The owner of the gun should be accountable for the illegal use,” Remulla said.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including how the student gained access to the fi****ms.

As the investigation continues, The Veritas Ledger will report only information that has been verified by authorities.
