Before we reveal our first batch of winners, letโ€™s get to know this mysterious author!

โ€œ I am known by a single name, yet the sum of my life is two. My published works appeared in forty-three volumes, but my public output, if divided by two, is wrong. Who am I?โ€

โ€”I am Michael Field. A joint pen name created by two Victorian women, Katherine Harris Bradley (1842) with her niece-lover and Edith Emma Cooper (1864). As Field, they co-composed eight volumes of poetry and 27 verse-dramas, as well as two-dozen volumes of journals entitled Works and Days. Their pieces explored le***an and womenโ€™s literature that challenged gender norms and cultural expectations during the late 19th-century Britain โ€” leaving a peculiar legacy in English Literature.

The alias โ€œ Michael Field โ€œ was rooted from their desire to go against expectations set for women in a patriarchal society. Their identity was later on revealed after they had confided in their good friend, Robert Browning. Some of their significant works are Long Ago (1889), Sight and Song (1892), Fair Rosamund (1884), and more.

Let us triumph and speak in good cheer for the five keen minds who we hereby declare as winners:

Mariano
Claude Tuyay
Celestine Limen
Miguel Castillo
Cathrine Piano

Congratulations winners! Please collect your chips from your English teachers/ LEAP officers.

As the month of November unfolds, Las Piรฑas City National Senior High School โ€“ Talon Dos Campus proudly marks the official opening of English Month 2025. This month invites us to honor the power of language, the beauty of literature, and the courage to express our thoughts boldly and creatively. English Month is not merely a set of contestsโ€”it is a celebration of voice, identity, and connection.

Stories take the spotlight in the Digital Storybook Making Contest, where imagination turns pages into worlds waiting to be explored.

Comprehension and insight rise in the Reading Proficiency Contest, as learners deepen their understanding through meaning and reflection.

Ideas find their form in the Essay Writing Contest, where students speak through their wordsโ€”clear, thoughtful, and heartfelt.

Powerful messages take shape in the Slogan Making Contest, proving that short phrases can leave lasting impressions.

Confidence takes center stage in the Oral Spelling Contest, where each letter spoken is a step toward mastery and assurance.

Characters step from the pages into life through Character Depiction, showcasing emotion, interpretation, and storytelling through performance.

With every voice heard and every idea expressed, we celebrate a month of learning, creativity, and discovery.
Let us welcome English Month 2025 with passion, spirit, and pride. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH ๐Ÿฉท

As the month of October ends, we carry forward the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness beyond these thirty-one days.

Let us honor the mothers, daughters, women and even men who bravely fight everyday. Their battle with cancer does not end when the month passes and neither should our support.

Let us continue to uplift, support, and raise awareness towards breast cancer. And let us honor and keep in mind and pray for those who continue their fight against cancer, be it a relative, a friend, a loved one or even a stranger โ€” and let us keep the people who've lost in our hearts. Let us spread awareness and compassion even after the month ends.

Remember early signs of cancer are easy to spot, as well as getting it treated, so ease the fear and do what is right.

Talon-Dos Campus proudly launched the school oath-taking ceremony last July 18, 2025, by inducting the new student and parent leaders into the SPTA, SSLG, and club positions; embracing a spirit of purpose and camaraderie, the ceremony underscored the ideals of stewardship and unity, with students attired in crisp uniforms symbolizing dignity and resolve.

The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer and the stirring rendition of national hymns, emphasizing the tone of esteem of character and triumph. Assistant Principal II Ms. Jeanette J. Ruga then delivered an uplifting notion, advocating the masses to uphold the spirit of the ceremony and persevere amidst the storms that brew over our heads.

Ms. Ma. Cristina Dingal proudly introduced the newly appointed SPTA Officers, while leaders from BERT CLUB / YES-O, SINAGTALA, LEAP, LUNTIAN, BSP, MATH CLUB, ICT/ROBOTICS CLUB, COMEA, SSLG, were welcomed with enthusiastic applause.

A newly-entrusted SPTA officer then led the Oath-Taking and Induction, officially ushering the officers into their roles of service and responsibility as student leader.

The students you see on your campus, running around with pens, papers, and cameras, could one day be the same people youโ€™ll see on TV, reporting the news, writing for local papers, or publishing the articles you look forward to reading. In a society that constantly runs on misinformation, truth will always find a way to prevail, often through these journalists.

Republic Act No. 11440 recognizes every July 25th as National Campus Press Freedom Day. A day to recognize those who choose to serve the public, those who give a platform for voices to be heard, and those who work tirelessly just to deliver the news, while continuously trying to balance their academic life. Though often faced with all kinds of challenges such as low funding, hectic schedules, overlapping deadlines, and restrictions due to censorship, journalists remain resilient and do what must be done to serve the school, and to serve the students.

So whenever you watch the news or read the paper, remember the ones who work behind the scenes, pens in hand, unseen, and often unappreciated. This is a day to celebrate and honor your campus journalists. Discard gossip, question when something is wrong, demand for answers, value integrity, and appreciate the bearers of truthโ€”even if it's just within the walls of your school.

As students are eager to clinch a spot on the top of the food pyramid, they creatively showcase their talent and skill in culinary arts, with students collaborating together in making their platter not only spectacular in design, but also nutritious and inviting for new opportunities for growth.

Sir Mark Jefferson Pascual, one of the judges of the event stated in an interview that "The event was successful because the students were informed about the right balance of grow, glow, and go foods, and that same information was applied in real life applications like the boodle fight activity.

Both Grade 11 and Grade 12 students aimed to climb the ladders of competition. Fighting with their competitive spiritsโ€”and their section's pride on the lineโ€”they persevered and were able to make it past the finish line. Even getting to enjoy their own creations at the end, showcasing the Filipino Tradition of eating together.

This event was more than a competion. It signified the importance of having a healthy lifestyle, teamwork and communication while also showcasing the students' talent in each of their own respective fields. Reminding everybody that the greatest wealth one could have is good health.
