Pero kasabay nito, we also need to be better.

WHEN YOU DONT GET WHAT YOU WANT, HOW DO YOU USUALLY REACT?

Honestly, I’ve been there. Yung feeling na you did your best, you prayed for it, you waited for it, pero hindi pa rin binigay. And in those moments, it’s so easy to feel disappointed, frustrated, and confused.

There were times I questioned everything. I questioned my plans, my abilities, even God’s plan for me. I doubted myself, and I even felt like I was not enough.

But slowly, I learned something important:
We may not always control what happens to us
but we can always choose how we react.

We can either let disappointment harden us or let it shape us.

We can either give up or grow in faith.

And in every waiting season, I’m learning to trust this truth:

God is not delaying my life—He is preparing me.
His timing is always better than mine, even when I don’t understand it.

So if you’re in a season of waiting or disappointment, don’t lose heart. Maybe it’s not “no” maybe it’s “not yet” or “I have something better for you.”

Trust His timing. Trust His plan. He knows what He is doing. 🤍

What Went Right Last School Year: Part 4
Doing Research

One practice that truly opened a lot of doors for me and I believe for many teachers as well is engaging in research.

As educators, we are expected to make evidence-based decisions in teaching and learning. But beyond that expectation, research became something more meaningful for me, it became a journey of growth.

Here’s why it worked:

1. It expanded my knowledge and experience. Doing research pushed me to go beyond the classroom and understand deeper educational issues, strategies, and solutions.

2.It strengthened my practice as a teacher. I was able to connect theory with real classroom experiences, making my teaching more intentional and data-driven.

3. It opened opportunities for collaboration. I met different people, fellow teachers, researchers, and professionals, who also share the same passion for improvement.

4. It exposed me to different platforms. From division, to regional, and even international colloquiums, I was able to experience spaces that challenged and inspired me to grow further.

5. It built confidence in sharing ideas. Research gave me a voice, not just in the classroom, but in wider educational conversations.

Looking back, research didn’t just improve my professional skills, it shaped how I think, teach, and grow as an educator.

To my fellow teachers, research may seem challenging at first, but it truly opens doors you never imagined possible. 💙

What Went Right Last School Year: Part 3
Listening to My Mentors

Sa totoo lang, I’m very proud and grateful to say na napunta ako sa leaders who truly know how to lead and more importantly, leaders who genuinely want to see us grow.

For the past 6 years, there’s one thing I consistently did right: I chose to listen to my mentors.

Not just to hear but to reflect, apply, and improve myself and my teaching.

There were times na mahirap tanggapin yung feedback, times na kailangan mag-adjust, and times na mapapaisip ka kung kaya mo pa bang mag-improve. But I trusted the process.

And recently, hearing them say na parang mas magaling na daw ako sa kanila, it’s humbling. But honestly, I don’t see it that way.

I am their legacy.
I am who I am today because of my mentors—Sir Ryan and Sir Earl.

And this is why it worked:

1. It taught me humility. Listening means accepting that there is always room for improvement, no matter how long you’ve been teaching.

2. It strengthened my teaching practice. Their guidance helped me refine my strategies, classroom management, and decision-making.

3. It gave me direction. Hindi ako naliligaw because I have experienced mentors guiding me along the way.

4. It built discipline and consistency. Growth didn’t happen overnight, but because I kept applying what I learned from them.

5. It created a ripple effect. As I grow, my students benefit the most, through better teaching, better guidance, and better learning experiences.

6. It reminded me that teaching is never a solo journey. We grow because someone guided us, believed in us, and invested their time in us.

Looking back, one of the best things we can do as teachers is to stay teachable.

To my fellow educators, if you are blessed with mentors, listen to them, learn from them, and value them. One day, you’ll realize… you are not just improving, you are continuing their legacy. 💙

What Went Right Last School Year: Part 2
Accepting Speakership Engagements

One of the best decisions I made this school year was saying “yes” to speakership opportunities, even when I felt scared, unprepared, and honestly, overwhelmed.

There were so many moments na iniisip ko, “Hindi ko na kaya, ang dami ko nang ginagawa,” or “Baka hindi pa ako enough kulang pa yung experience at knowledge ko.”

But I realized growth doesn’t happen when we feel ready. It happens when we choose to show up anyway.

And because I said yes, here’s what changed:

1. I overcame my fear. Slowly, I learned to face a room full of people with courage, kahit may kaba.

2. I proved to myself that I can. Hindi lang pala ako hanggang classroom I can share, inspire, and make an impact beyond it.

3. I learned so much. Every talk pushed me to study deeper and understand more hindi lang para makapagturo, kundi para maging better educator.

4. I built my confidence. With every experience, mas naging sure ako sa sarili ko and sa purpose ko as a teacher.

5. I built meaningful connections. I met fellow educators who inspire, support, and grow with me.

Looking back, I’m grateful I didn’t let fear decide for me.

To my fellow teachers, if an opportunity comes your way, kahit nakakatakot, kahit feeling mo hindi ka pa ready, take it.

Because sometimes, the opportunities we are most afraid of are the ones that help us grow the most. 💙
