GREEDY BIR OFFICERS FLAGGED IN LOA SCHEME

In a report by The Daily Tribune, Sen. JV Ejercito raised alarm over alleged corruption inside the Bureau of Internal Revenue, claiming that some revenue officers up to regional directors are involved in pocketing money from Letters of Authority (LOA) operations.

Ejercito said the BIR originally aimed to generate ₱6–8 billion from LOA collections but delivered only ₱2–3 billion — a massive shortfall he attributes to corruption, alleging that “70% ang dinadakma, 30% lang ang napupunta sa gobyerno.”

The senator said it is disheartening that government agencies have developed “kanya-kanyang diskarte,” diverting funds meant for vital public services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Ejercito called for immediate reforms and accountability measures, stressing that taxpayers deserve a transparent and trustworthy revenue system.

Grabe, parang teleserye — magkapatid nagkakatamaan, politika nasa gitna.

The Philippines is changing — and the loudest voices pushing that change aren’t politicians, but the biggest generations of today: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, and Millennials. With millions of eyes watching, every questionable project gets called out, every anomaly goes viral, at bawat piso ng taumbayan may bantay na.

This generational awakening is powerful — mabilis, matapang, at hindi na tumatanggap ng palusot. And if three generations move together, change isn’t just possible… it’s unstoppable.

📌 Read the full story and understand why this shift matters for the future of every Filipino:

New leaders of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas were elected during the 51st Top Level Management Conference held from November 12 to 14, 2025, at Twin Lakes Hotel in Tagaytay City, as the industry sharpened its focus on strengthening Philippine broadcasting in the digital age.

For 2025–2026, Ruperto “Jun” Nicdao Jr. of the Manila Broadcasting Company takes the helm as the new KBP president.

He will be joined by the newly elected officers:

Chairman: Herman Basbaño

Vice Chairman: Butch Canoy

Executive Vice President: Joselito Yabut

VP for TV: Atom Henares

VP for Radio: Noel Galvez

Corporate Secretary: Albert Sikat

Treasurer: Fr. Manuel Bongayan, SVD

Directors: Raul Dela Cruz, Erwin Galang, Lorlyn Velarde

The annual conference gathered broadcast executives from across the country to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the industry. This year’s theme, “Resilient Broadcasting in a Digital Nation,” underscored the urgent need for media organizations to innovate, strengthen credibility, and adapt to rapidly evolving digital platforms.

Speakers and panel discussions highlighted how newsrooms must evolve amid the rise of AI tools, social media fragmentation, and increasing public demand for fast, accurate, and responsible reporting. Industry leaders also emphasized the role of broadcasters in disaster response, public information, and safeguarding press freedom.

The event wrapped up with a renewed call for unity among broadcasters as the Philippines navigates a fast-changing information landscape.
