MPride Month Seminar Sparks Awareness at Matatalaib High School
On June 30, 2025, Matatalaib High School held a Pride Month seminar aimed at raising awareness and promoting respect for the LGBTQIA+ community. The LGBTQIA+ community is known for its diverse identities and ongoing struggle for equality and inclusion.
The seminar was led by Dr. Juvelyn Esteban, together with teachers Ma’am Chelsea Rose M. Garcia and Ma’am Arianne D. Perez. The session focused on educating students about the LGBTQIA+ spectrum — including Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersex, Asexual, and other identities under the umbrella of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
More than just definitions, the seminar encouraged students to practice respect, empathy, and allyship. It highlighted the importance of cultivating a culture of acceptance and kindness by engaging students in discussions that challenge stereotypes and promote support for LGBTQIA+ peers. Pride Month served as a reminder that inclusion begins with awareness, and respect starts with listening.
Seminars like this play a vital role in strengthening acceptance among students and fostering open-mindedness for future generations. By promoting equality not only in school but in daily life, Matatalaib High School is paving the way toward a future where love and acceptance lead the way.
