From May 2 to 6, 2025, the Lasallian Youth Volunteers of De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College proudly took part in the National Lasallian Volunteers Camp 2025 held at Balay Indang, Cavite. The school was represented by Precious Mae P. Garcia, Showey U. Ondagas, and Vergel A. Caรฑabano, accompanied by Ms. Jeanlalily O. Barcuma, the Lasallian Mission Office In-charge.
The camp brought together student volunteers from 11 La Salle institutions across the country, all with one shared goal: to deepen their understanding and commitment to the Lasallian mission through faith, service, and communion. The five-day journey began with the session Lasallian Reflection 101: Our Hearts is in the Peripheries, which introduced the participants to the heart of Lasallian values and spirituality. This was followed by an insightful discussion on the Lasallian Reflection Framework, led by Ms. Kimberly Ching, where delegates explored how Lasallians live out their mission of faith, service, and community.
The next session, Volunteerism in the Life of the Founder, facilitated by Br. Jeano Endaya, shed light on how St. John Baptist de La Salle exemplified a life of dedicated service, and how his legacy continues to inspire young Lasallians today. Following this, the participants had the opportunity to hear the stories of Lasallian Volunteers, featuring Ms. Mary Timbre, a Lasallian East Asia District Volunteer, as well as Lasallian Volunteer Batch 25 members Kuya Zekie, Kuya Ken, Ate Nicole, and Ate Chery. Their stories of selfless service and transformative experiences moved and inspired everyone in the room.
Before entering the field, a Community Immersion Orientation was led by Mr. Racy, which prepared the volunteers emotionally and spiritually for their encounter with the local community. The community immersion itself became one of the most memorable parts of the camp, giving the participants the chance to truly listen, learn, and connect with the realities of those they served. This experience strengthened their sense of empathy, humility, and solidarity.
To build camaraderie and strengthen bonds among participants, a team-building activity was conducted by the adult companions, fostering unity and trust. This was followed by the Young Lasallian Volunteers Commitment session, led by Ms. Chelsea Catli, where delegates reflected on their personal journey and affirmed their dedication to live out the Lasallian mission in their respective communities.
The camp concluded with a spiritually enriching visit to the Sanctuario de La Salle, where the delegates were reminded of the sacredness of their vocation as Lasallian volunteers. Each day was capped with a personal journaling session, allowing participants to reflect on their insights and experiences.
The NLVC 25 proved to be a transformative and empowering experience for the DLS-ASMC delegates. It deepened their understanding of volunteerism, renewed their passion for service, and inspired them to become active bearers of faith, service, and communion in their everyday lives.
