In communities where drought conditions exist, officials may recommend water conservation measures to restrict use of water. These recommendations may include such procedures as watering lawns and washing cars on odd or even days of the week, at night, or on weekends. The restrictions may limit hours or prohibit use of water, or require use of hand watering instead of using sprinkler systems that use much more water. Flooding is a big problem encountered in many places all over the world. It causes massive destruction to both lives and property which can take some time to recover from. While in general it is caused by too much rainfall, there are instances when weather plays little role in causing floods. There is often confusion between using the terms flood and flash flood. Tsunamis can hit people in coastal areas within minutes after a severe earthquake. The best way to protect yourself and your family in case of a tsunami is to follow these steps:

Follow instructions and evacuate when told to do so, in case of a long/strong earthquake:
• Move to higher ground.
• Stay away from coast, tidal estuaries, rivers and streams; if at sea, stay there until “all clear” is issued.
• Be aware of secondary hazards such as landslides, flooding and mudflows.

It will come in handy if you evacuate your home quickly during a disaster or in a situation when you need to stay in home or the power goes out. Don't worry it's easy to be ready when you know how.
