March 3, 2025 – Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) has successfully achieved recertification under the ISO 9001:2015 standard, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services. This significant accomplishment underscores CVMC's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency, as validated by independent audit conducted by the PT A CUBE AUDITORS led by Mr. Gerard Cayetano joined by Mr. Mark Ilagan, Ms. Olive Eco and Mr. Robert Jarquio.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification validates CVMC's consistent delivery of reliable and superior healthcare services. The recent recertification audit, which revealed no major or minor non-conformities, confirms CVMC's adherence to stringent quality management principles.

CVMC PRESENTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT DOH MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE AND BUDGET UTILIZATION REVIEW

Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) participated in the Department of Health's (DOH) Management, Performance and Budget Utilization Review (PBUR) 2024 held at NGN Hotel Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

The event, themed "Strengthening Healthcare Services Delivery," aimed to foster collaboration, share best practices, and address challenges in improving healthcare services across the region.

Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan, emphasized the crucial role of shared commitment in enhancing healthcare delivery. She highlighted the review as a platform for assessing progress, fostering collaboration, and implementing innovative solutions for a more resilient and inclusive healthcare system. Director Pangilinan encouraged strengthened resource sharing through the Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) to ensure access to specialized personnel, equipment, and medicine.

During the DOH Hospital Presentations, CVMC Chief, Dr. Cherry Lou M. Antonio, presented CVMC's accomplishments for FY 2024 based on the reporting indicators in the Office and Performance Commitment Review (OPCR). She also presented progress updates on the latest License to Operate of CVMC which is 649 bed capacity and the newly established Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center (GABI) which operates daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM to decongest the emergency room and cater to ambulatory surgical cases. Updates on the Philippine Governance System (PGS) and hospital accreditations were also provided.

Officials from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) encouraged hospitals to implement shadow billing and rationalized case rates. They urged hospitals to attend a cascading activity on February 20-22, 2025, to familiarize themselves with all new PhilHealth circulars. PhilHealth also emphasized the importance of checking the PhilHealth portal for member verification and updates.

Hospitals discussed common challenges encountered in their operations and exchanged best practices that have contributed to improved service delivery.

This review served as a valuable opportunity for the DOH and its partner institutions to assess their progress, address challenges, and collectively work towards strengthening healthcare services delivery in Region 2.

DOH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE VISITS CVMC

Tuguegarao City, Philippines – January 20, 2025 – Three high-ranking officials from the Department of Health (DOH) Executive Committee visited the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) today, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the hospital's ongoing development. The visit commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated offices of the Medical Social Service Section, Admitting Unit, and the Office of the Chief Health Program Officer.

The visiting delegation included Undersecretary Glenn Mathew G. Baggao (formerly Medical Center Chief II of CVMC), Undersecretary Achiles Gerard C. Bravo, CESO II, and Assistant Secretary Atty. Paolo S. Teston. Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, Regional Director of the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development, also participated.

The Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) Management Committee joined the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CV CHD) in welcoming Dr. Glenn Mathew G. Baggao, the new Undersecretary for Universal Health Care (UHC) Health Service Cluster Area 1.

The event was marked by a warm welcome and congratulations from CV CHD Executive Committee led by Dir. Amelita Pangilinan and Chief of DOH Hospitals who expressed their full support for Dr. Baggao.

In her speech, the CVMC Chief, Dr. Cherry Lou M. Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) clinched the prestigious title of Best National Government Hospital for the second consecutive year at the 24th Gawad Kalasag Awarding Ceremony on December 13, 2024, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.

Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC), under the leadership of Medical Center Chief II Dr. Cherry Lou Antonio, successfully conducted its Management Review on October 22, November 4, and November 5, 2024. This critical evaluation provided a platform for division heads, department heads and unit representatives to review progress, assess operational and service goals, and strategize improvements for CVMC’s continued growth.

Day 1 featured presentations from various clinical heads, including specialists from the ORL-HNS, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, and Cardiovascular departments. This session emphasized service efficiency and patient-centered care.

Day 2 continued with discussions led by the heads of the Emergency Department, Radiology, Pathology, Dental Medicine, and administrative units such as Pharmacy, Human Resources, and Budget Management. Key priorities included enhancing diagnostic capabilities and strengthening support services.

Day 3 concluded with insights from the Chief Nursing Officer, the Professional Education and Research Unit, Health Emergency Management, ISO committees, and public health and safety representatives. The final session underscored CVMC’s commitment to quality standards, emergency preparedness, and patient safety.

The comprehensive review underscored CVMC’s dedication to elevating healthcare delivery, guided by rigorous assessment and interdepartmental collaboration.
