πŸ’ Thoughts:
The plot twist is on point!πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
this book is one of those you could finish in a day, but it took me 5 πŸ˜… maybe i just didn’t connect much with the characters… or maybe it’s just the pregnancy hormones kicking in 🀫 lol.

the story follows a woman who’s spent her whole life trying to escape her past. the daughter of a serial killer. imagine growing up with that kind of secret and then suddenly… the murders start again πŸ‘€

it’s definitely a slow burn. the story takes a while to really pick up, but once it does, things start getting interesting. one thing that kinda got to me though is how often it was mentioned that the mc is β€œthe daughter of a psychopath.” like girl, we know πŸ˜† no need to remind us every few pages.

still, i have to say, mcfadden knows how to keep her readers guessing. every time i thought i’d figured out the culprit, she proved me wrong again. that final twist?? didn’t see it coming at all! 🫣

overall, a solid read with a great ending. not my fave mcfadden, but still worth picking up if you’re in the mood for a twisty, unpredictable thriller πŸ”ͺπŸ“š

πŸ’ Thoughts:
honestly, i don’t have much to say about this one πŸ˜… it could’ve been really good since it's dark, heavy, and full of triggers, abuse, obsession, control, and trauma but it just didn’t land for me. i get that hoover said it was β€œjust for fun,” but maybe that’s why it felt a bit all over the place. the epilogue felt super long, like she didn’t want it to end lol.

the story felt kinda shallow tbh. it mentioned serious things but didn’t really go deep into them. maybe i just didn’t connect with the characters. it took me more than 5 days to finish and i ended up skipping parts πŸ™ˆ

it’s one of those books that keeps you reading out of curiosity, not comfort. it’s messy, dark, and uncomfortable but that’s what makes it different.

if you like dark romance + toxic relationships + a hint of thriller, this might be your kind of read πŸ‘€

πŸ’ Thoughts:

reading from a cop’s pov isn’t something i usually do, but wow. this one pulled me in. it starts a bit slow, but once the investigation kicks in, i was hooked. the case, the missing girls, and all the little clues kept me guessing till the end πŸ‘€

nikki hunt is such a strong lead. haunted by her past, but still brave enough to face it head-on. i loved how her personal story about her parents tied into the main mystery. it gave the whole book more heart. πŸ’”

not me suspecting everyone (especially miller and rory πŸ˜…). the twist at the end? didn’t see it coming. and the way nikki and rory’s dynamic turned out so good πŸ₯Ή

slow start, but totally worth it. definitely a solid first book in the series. might take a break before book 2, but i’ll come back for sure πŸ’™

πŸ’ Thoughts:
The story follows Alicia Berenson, a talented painter, has loving husband and has beautiful home. Until one night, she shoots her husband five times in the face… and never speaks another word. Enter Theo Faber, a psychotherapist determined to make her talk and uncover what really happened that night.
But as he digs deeper, his own past begins to blur into hers and every truth feels like a trap.

This book is a slow-paced psychological thriller that delivers a major plot twist. β€œThe dead don’t talk.” And honestly, I just felt sad for Alicia πŸ₯Ί The things she went through… you really can’t blame her after everything. The book started a bit slow, but once I hit Part 2, I couldn’t put it down. Some parts dragged, but that plot twist?? I did not see that coming 😭
Such a good read!

For people who love Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, and morally gray narrators, this is perfect for you.

πŸ’ Thoughts:
Literally no words can describe how I feel after reading this book. It felt so slow, with unnecessary moments. I got tired of the games as well - lol, I've had enough of the mysteries. The ending was also unsatisfying; I thought there would be a cliffhanger for the next book. It didn't give me the same hype I felt from the first book. Meeting Toby wasn't surprising at all. The only thing that excites me is that Avery has the will to fight now.

I want to read the next book in this series, but I also don't want to torture myself. Please convince me 😭
