MARCH 19 | SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

On March 19, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the faithful husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Chosen by God to guard and care for the Holy Family, St. Joseph lived a life of humility, obedience, and quiet strength. Though Sacred Scripture records no spoken words from him, his actions reveal a man of deep faith who trusted completely in God’s plan.

On this special feast, let us honor St. Joseph and ask for his powerful intercession for our families, our work, and the whole Church.

ST. JOSEPH, GUIDE US THIS NEW WEEK

O glorious St. Joseph, faithful guardian of the Holy Family and humble servant of God, we entrust to your care this new week that lies before us. You who listened to the voice of God with trust and courage, teach us to walk in faith even when the path is uncertain.

Intercede for us, dear St. Joseph, that our hearts may remain obedient to God’s will. Help us to work with honesty, to serve with humility, and to love our families with patience and devotion. Protect our homes from harm, guard our minds from fear, and strengthen us when we feel weary or discouraged.

Just as you cared for Jesus and Mary with quiet strength, watch over us and lead us closer to your Son. May our work be fruitful, our words be kind, and our actions reflect the goodness of God.

St. Joseph, patron of families, protector of the Church, and model of faithful trust, walk with us throughout this week. Pray for us in every challenge and guide us always toward the peace and grace of the Lord.

Legitimate Heir to the Throne of King David

Our Lenten Effort

Our society hammers into us the mentality that our greatness lies in our bank account, social status, and appearance. The good St. Joseph was of royal blood, but his poverty and humility were his crowning jewels. Our obligation as Christians is also to be poor in spirit. Our Lord tells us being poor in spirit means inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven.

Let us resolve to:

Pray to St. Joseph for poverty in spirit.

Pray to St. Joseph for leaders of nations.

Do our work without seeking honor or reward.

Novena Prayer

O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.

O Saint Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most Loving of Fathers. O Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. Saint Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, God the Father granted you all the graces and blessings you needed to be His chosen representative on earth.

Desirous of a worthy foster father, God the Son chose you, adding His own riches and gifts, and above all, His love. The true measure of your sanctity is to be judged by your imitation of Jesus. You were entirely consecrated to Jesus, working always near Him, offering Him your virtues, your work, your sufferings, your very life. Jesus lived in you so perfectly that you were transformed into Him. Hence, after Mary, you are the holiest of the saints.

You were chosen by the Holy Spirit. Every vocation and every fulfillment of a vocation proceeds from the Holy Spirit. As foster father of Jesus and head of the Holy Family, you had an exalted and most responsible vocation—to open the way for the redemption of the world and to prepare for it by the education and guidance of Jesus. In this work the Holy Spirit was the guide; you obeyed and carried out the works. How perfectly you obeyed God’s guidance!

Saint Joseph, I thank God for choosing you. Please obtain for me the grace to imitate your virtues so that I too may be pleasing to the Heart of God. Help me to give myself entirely to His service and to the accomplishment of His Holy Will, that one day I may reach heaven and be eternally united to God as you are. Amen.

Patron and Protector of the Universal Church

“The Church took its beginning from Jesus Christ, who was its Divine founder. The first to form part of that Church was Mary; the second was Joseph. But of this nascent Church, limited as yet to the Holy Family, who was the tutor, the protector, the head? Joseph. And, if he filled this office towards the Church at its birth, he did not cease to exercise it after its birth and diffusion throughout the world.”

Our Lenten Effort

During times of scandal in the church, both moral and financial, let us not forget that the saints always defend Holy Mother Church and always pick up and restore the broken pieces caused by human sin and frailty. Let us invoke the aid of St. Joseph, Patron and Protector of the Universal Church, as we do our duty to love and support the One True Church,
which “the gates of hell shall not prevail against.”

Let us resolve to:

Pray to St. Joseph for protection of the Church against her enemies.

Seek to educate ourselves on the treasure of the Church’s teachings.

Live out the New Evangelization, reaching out to Catholics who have become distant from the Faith.

Saint Joseph, I honor you as the true husband of Mary, who belonged to you with all she was and had. No other person so won her esteem, obedience, and love.

This union of marriage brought you into daily familiar association with Mary, the loveliest of God’s creatures, and enabled you to share with her a mutual spirituality. Mary found her edification in your calm, humble, and deep virtue, purity, and sanctity. Your marriage was the way in which God chose to have Jesus introduced into the world, a great divine mystery from which all benefits have come to us.

Saint Joseph, I thank God for your privilege of being the virginal husband of Mary. I beg of you to obtain for me the grace to love Jesus with all my heart, as you did, and to love Mary with some of the tenderness and loyalty with which you loved her. Amen

St. Joseph Novena - Day 1

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Saint Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have confidence in you and that, after Jesus and Mary, I come to you as an example for holiness, for you are especially close with God. Therefore, I humbly commend myself, with all who are dear to me and all that belong to me, to your intercession. I beg of you, by your love for Jesus and Mary, not to abandon me during life and to assist me at the hour of my death.

Glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Immaculate Virgin, pray for me to have a pure, humble, charitable mind, and perfect resignation to the divine Will. Be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may die as you did in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

Loving Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I raise my heart to you to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Divine Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace I now implore:

Last December 17 2025, the second simbang gabi mass was led by Rev. Fr. Jerome Rafael Gonzales at the Capilla de San Jose or San Isidro East Chapel.

The Capilla de San Jose or San Isidro East Chapel was filled with faithful crowed last December 16, 2025, marking as the beginning of Simbang Gabi Masses. The first simbang gabi mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Jerome Rafael Gonzales
