This post is for those who will spend their Christmas eve alone or with sadness in their hearts.

For those from broken families who would rather spend it alone than to open old wounds.

For those who just broke up from their significant other.

For those who lost a loved one this year.

For those with a critical illness.

For those without enough money.

For the OFWs who won’t be home for Christmas.

For the doctors and nurses who are on duty for Christmas eve.

For those confused with their professional careers.

For those who feel pressured because Christmas reminds them that another year has passed without ticking their goals.

I want you to remember that this too shall pass. That not all holidays will be lonely. That one day it will be your turn to be happy. Bear with this season of sadness and realize that you matter. Many people experience the holidays the way you do, and the shared emotion will likewise make all those who endure it, stronger. We may not be blessed in certain ways, but we are blessed in others. May this season remind us to be grateful for the small things. With the silence, let us say a little prayer for ourselves that we may reach the peace we desire one day, if not now.

Hi, everyone! For those who did not know, I have already completed my academic requirements for the Master of Public Health degree (MPH) at the University of the Philippines Manila and await graduation. Likewise, I will also start my second postgraduate degree (MBA) at the Asian Institute of Management by January 2023.

I hope my professional journey will also serve as an inspiration to many students (especially those who just got their license) to aim higher. Learning is a continuous process that is enhanced when you get further education from the best mentors. May the holidays serve as a season of reflection on where we want to be three, five, and ten years from now. Let us start turning it into a reality ❤️

Got the sad news today that two of my UP colleagues are leaving the Philippines. Reason? The election results. I guess something snapped na and they realized that the Philippines isn’t worth it anymore. One colleague is two years younger than me, and the other is a prominent researcher and professional. They both served the country well and gave international recognition to the country. Pero wala eh. Just writing this make me shed a few tears. What happened, Philippines? Bakit ang hirap mong mahalin? As I contemplate about my own life, I do have the privilege to go abroad if I want to, but I love my country too much and I really want to help. Worth it pa ba?
