Aklan State University – New Washington Campus proudly joins the nation in commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing Para sa Bayan.” The event was graced by Hon. Atty. Shimonette P. Francisco, Municipal Mayor of New Washington, Aklan, who delivered an inspiring message highlighting the vital role of public servants in nation-building. She emphasized that “A people cannot change the system, but the people within the system can change the system.”

Distinguished guest speakers also shared their knowledge and expertise during the celebration. Atty. Mark Cerzar M. Carpizo, Legal/Special Operations Officer of Jetty/Cagban Port, discussed “Upholding Integrity and Ethical Responsibility in Public Service: A Legal Perspective,” while Mr. Ferdinand R. Macague, OIC Chief Human Resources Specialist of CSC–Aklan Field Office, delivered his lecture on the “Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS): IPCR.”

The occasion served as a meaningful reminder of the heart, honor, and excellence exemplified by every public servant dedicated to advancing good governance and fostering progress for the nation.

ASU Stands Strong: A Call to Prevent Su***de

On September 29, 2025, the Aklan State University in New Washington will hold a special event in celebration of the National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

September is an important month to talk about su***de prevention because it goes against a dangerous and common belief that people have to go through their worst times alone. It’s also dangerous to ignore cries for help and keep your pain to yourself.

In reality, asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it is a brave and self-preserving thing to do while choosing to fight and look for light in the dark is a relatively strong statement as well.

Let's break down the stigma and be sources of light. By recognizing the warning signs, offering a listening ear, and guiding those in the right direction, we become lifelines. Together, we can ensure that no one suffers in silence, that support is readily available, and that every life is valued beyond measure.

ANNOUNCEMENT! 📢

In line with the directive of the Provincial Government of Aklan and as a precautionary measure for Severe Tropical Storm "Opong", all classes, office operations, and student activities at Aklan State University are suspended on September 26, 2025.

Faculty members are not required to report, except for university officials, health, safety, and security personnel, and those with urgent or critical functions. Disaster Control Groups (DCGs) of all campuses are also advised to be on alert and standby.

Please stay safe, keep updated on weather advisories, and take extra precautions, CFMSians!

Aklan State University Undergoes ISO 9001:2015 Stage One Audit

On September 23, 2025, Aklan State University (ASU) in New Washington, Aklan, underwent a Stage One audit for ISO 9001:2015 certification. TÜV Rheinland, a reputable certification body, carried out the audit to evaluate the university's documentation and preparedness for a comprehensive certification audit.

Ms. Jodie Beatriz S. Zamora served as the Lady Dean of Ceremonies for the audit, which was conducted at the Audio-Visual Room. An Opening Meeting was held at 2:30 PM to introduce the participants and go over the goals, plan, and scope of the audit.

Furthermore, TÜV Rheinland auditors conducted an in-depth review of the university's Quality Management System (QMS). The audit team, composed of Audit Leader Ms. Jogina S. Mendiola and auditors Mr. Rolando C. Remitar and Ms. Maribeth C. Lucañas, who focused on several key areas, including Site and Human Resource Management, QMS Objectives, Risk Management & Opportunities, Documented Information, and Review of Management System Documentation.

This Stage One audit is a crucial step for Aklan State University as it moves forward toward achieving full ISO 9001:2015 certification, demonstrating its commitment to international quality standards.

The students from different departments came together as one during the Do Day Activity held today, September 22, at Aklan State University – New Washington.

The event served as an opportunity for students to work hand in hand—cleaning, organizing, and helping one another—to prepare the campus for the upcoming International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Stage One Audit, scheduled on September 22–23, 2025.

More than just a preparation for the audit, the activity fostered a spirit of camaraderie and unity. Students shared responsibilities and put in collective effort, proving that working together makes every task lighter and every goal more achievable.

National Day of Protest: Remembering the Past, Resisting the Present

The National Day of Protest in the Philippines is commemorated every September 21, and it serves as a very solemn reminder of the past dictatorial regime the nation has undergone and the continuing struggle for rights, freedom, and democratization in today's commemoration of the anniversary of the 1972 declaration of Martial Law by the late dictator, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and categorically condemned by many for its atrocious human rights abuses, suppression of dissent, and wide-scale corruption.

Today, the National Day of Protest, is more than just a reminder, it is a call to vigilance. Since the time when disinformation rockets destroyed the historical truth with different forms of authoritarianism, remembering martial law lessons becomes even more urgent. After all, this day encourages every Filipino to ask again about the lessons of the past, to confront today's injustices, and to fight for the democratic ideals that many have died and fought for.

Silence is complicity. Justice requires voice.
Never Again. Never Forget.
