This is a great article about mountain biking in Northern Mindanao.
It captures the beauty of the trails, the thrill of the ride, and the strong community we’re proud to be part of.

From CDO to Bukidnon to Camiguin—this is home.

Give it a read. You’ll feel the stoke 🤙.

One of my favorite stretches on Manticao trail, right after the iconic scenic rock. Sketchy line, killer views. Just don’t get too distracted… one slip and you’ll be part of the scenery real quick. 😅

First Ride at Manticao: Mud, Ruts, and Pure Fun

Despite the heavy rain the day before, nothing could stop our excitement as we finally explored the trails of Manticao, Misamis Oriental. I've been wanting to ride here for a while now, and luckily—today was no longer drawing (as we say in Filipino slang). It finally happened.

Together with the CDO Enduro community led by Doc Ryan and our friends from Malaybalay (Biker sa Bukid and his crew), we hit the trails, guided by local riders Glayd DriksLah and Keval Sebastien Manales . We managed to ride two different trails—each with their own flavor and challenges.

To reach the trailhead, you could pedal, but with its 5km distance and decent elevation, we opted for the smarter way up: the legendary Bao-Bao (tuktuk). Work smart, not hard!

Trail 1: 3.1km Fire Road Mayhem

The first trail was a 3.1km fire road descent—wide and open but made gnarly by rain ruts, floating rocks, and slippery soil that felt like riding on bathroom tiles. While the wide track tempts you to go fast, the unpredictable surface keeps you humble. A few of us hit the deck on the slick parts, but thanks to Bitoy’s advice ("Don’t brake and just roll it!"), we started to get the hang of it. The trail offered epic views too—a reward for those who dared to look up.

It was definitely a different kind of ride compared to our usual CDO trails. The terrain and trail behavior brought a fresh challenge to everyone.

Trail 2: 2km Natural Singletrack

Next up was a 2km singletrack descent, made more technical by deep ruts from the recent rains. Being a natural trail, conditions change depending on the weather, so it keeps you on your toes. Several stream crossings added a muddy twist, and while the grip was sketchy at times, the cool shade from the trees and stunning mountain views made it all worth it.

Compared to the first trail, this one had more tree cover—great for keeping cool when the sun’s out.

Until Next Time, Manticao

Just as we finished the second trail, the rain returned and called it a day. But overall, it was an unforgettable ride—fun, challenging, and definitely something different from what we're used to in CDO.

Clyde mentioned there are still two more trails we haven’t explored yet. So yup… we’ve got a reason to come back!

Habitat Trail – A New MTB Spot in CDO
As bike trails in Cagayan de Oro slowly disappear due to infrastructure development, finding new spots to ride has become a challenge. Sto. Niño Trail now has a paved road, and Dao Trail is also being affected by ongoing road expansion, cutting into the trail.
Today, we explored a newly discovered bike trail, found by Raffyboy. He named it Habitat Trail since the trailhead is near Indahag Habitat Relocation. This trail sits on the hill beside Sto. Niño Trail and can actually be seen from there. Raffyboy discovered it while searching for new MTB trails in CDO.
The trail itself is not very long, but it’s raw and exciting. It features some technical steep sections and could offer a fast, flowy ride if the rocks and debris are cleared. Since this trail is less explored, expect some bushwhacking as grass and vegetation cover parts of the path.
The descent ends at a stream, followed by a 200-meter uphill climb to exit. The climb is steep, but thanks to the natural tree canopy, it isn’t too exhausting. The trail exits at the newly constructed road in Sto. Niño Trail, near the chapel.
This trail has great potential. If it can be connected to the old Sto. Niño Trail or if an alternate route is found leading down to Taguanao Road, it could become an even better ride. The elevation near the stream is still quite high, so there’s a chance to extend the trail further.
Overall, Habitat Trail is a great alternative for riders looking for MTB trails within city limits, without having to travel far. If you love exploring new trails, this one is definitely worth a visit!

🚨 Trail Update – Dao Trail (Hornet Section) 🚨
Fellow riders, take caution! The exit of the Hornet section is currently not rideable. A huge chunk of soil has been removed, leaving behind a sudden drop. If you’re not ready to brake or unaware of the change, it could lead to a serious fall.
Ride safe and spread the word! 🙏
