You can actually see the sea from up here, but I really wanted to focus on the path this time. And if you ever visit, please leave it better than you found it.

What if you were here, at the end of the road, as the sun begins to set, surrounded by calm waters and endless greens? I was there, taking it all in.

Bucas Grande Island in Surigao del Norte, a maze of green islets rising from the Pacific, though you wouldn’t quite see the turquoise now, with the light slowly fading. Home to millions of stingless jellyfish, this paradise once saw a different story. Years ago, it became the site of the Colorum uprising, where locals stood their ground in one of Surigao’s forgotten battles. Today, it stands calm, a place that carries both beauty and history.

Would you believe this place is in CamSur? This is Tayak Beach in Caramoan, once the filming spot of the Survivor Series (US reality TV show). From above, you see the shore framed by endless green mountains stretching to the horizon. Just a short two-minute walk inland takes you to Tayak Lake, hidden behind limestone cliffs like a secret retreat. Some call this beach Camp Pitago, but whatever the name, the sand is soft and powdery.. I didn’t even know this beach existed until now, and it’s definitely worth the visit. Just leave it better than you found it.
