Erik Morales Understands Why Old Rival Manny Pacquiao Is Making A Comeback.
"It doesn’t surprise me,” Morales admitted, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Manny is a fighter, and fighters always want to fight. The ring is in their blood. Retirement is hard.”

Morales, who shared a legendary trilogy with Pacquiao in the mid-2000s, understands the lure of the squared circle better than most. He himself had a brief comeback attempt after retiring, proving the difficulty of staying away from the sport.

“He probably feels he still has something to prove, maybe wants one last big fight, one last payday,” Morales speculated. “Whatever his reasons, I know that feeling. That hunger never really goes away.”

While some have criticized Pacquiao's decision to return at the age of 46, Morales offered a more empathetic perspective. “People will say he’s too old, that he should stay retired. But Manny has earned the right to do what he wants. He’s a legend.”

Morales added a word of caution, however. “Boxing is a young man’s game. He needs to be careful. He’s not the same fighter he was 15 years ago. But knowing Manny, he’s training hard and taking it seriously.”

Ultimately, Morales respects Pacquiao’s decision. “I wish him the best,” he said. “He’s a great fighter, and I’ll always be a fan. I’ll be watching.”

Richard John Hatton (born October 6, 1978, died September 14, 2025), nicknamed "The Hitman" and "The People's Champion," was a British professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2012, later becoming a boxing promoter and trainer. He held multiple light-welterweight world championships and one welterweight title. Hatton earned Fighter of the Year honors from The Ring, the Boxing Writers Association of America, and ESPN in 2005.

After a lengthy hiatus and media speculation, Hatton initially retired in 2011 but returned to the ring in 2012 after more than three years of inactivity. Following a loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko, he immediately retired again. Thirteen years later, he announced a second comeback in July 2025.

Hatton, inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2024, is celebrated as one of Britain's most popular boxers, known for his passionate fanbase that traveled extensively to support him.

👑"PACQUIAO'S FISTS FELT LIKE A ROCK" - KEITH THURMAN👊 ......That's what Keith Thurman said after goin' twelve rounds with Manny Pacquiao back in 2019. Thurman, who was undefeated at the time, felt the power of Pac-Man firsthand. He said Pacquiao's punches were harder than anything he'd ever experienced in the ring. Even though Thurman is a bigger dude, Pacquiao's speed and power were too much. Thurman ended up losin' his WBA welterweight title that night, and he ain't been the same since. It just goes to show you, age ain't nothin' but a number when you got that kinda skill and power. Pacquiao, even in his 40s, was still a force to be reckoned with.
