In response to the recent earthquake incidents that struck various regions across the Philippines, Carlos P. Garcia High School (Cubao) conducted a school-wide earthquake drill on Thursday, October 16, 2025, to reinforce the importance of disaster preparedness and safety. ๐ซโ ๏ธ
The activity aimed to equip students, teachers, and school personnel with the proper knowledge and skills to respond effectively in case of an actual earthquake. The drill simulated emergency situations, teaching Garcians how to stay calm, perform the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ maneuver, and safely evacuate school premises. ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช
Before the drill, Ms. Desiree T. Castillo led an evacuation briefing for students. During her discussion, she explained the schoolโs evacuation plan, designated assembly areas, and important safety reminders during and after an earthquake. ๐ฃ๏ธ๐
In partnership with Brgy. Captain Marciano R. Buena-Agua Jr. and the officials from Brgy. E. Rodriguez, the school also conducted an Earthquake Safety Seminar for School Personnel, attended by teachers and staff. The seminar provided valuable insights on risk reduction, emergency response, and first aid procedures to ensure a coordinated and effective response during disasters. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐งฏ๐
The earthquake drill concluded successfully, leaving students more aware and confident about what actions to take during emergencies. Through continuous safety initiatives, Carlos P. Garcia High School reaffirms its commitment to keeping every Garcian safe and ready. ๐ช๐โจ
