An excerpt from the historical background of Saint Joseph Village Barangay

St. Joseph Village Barangay was named in honor of Saint Joseph, the Worker, patron saint of St. It is composed of the Navy Base Reservation Camp and the Polo Field, which was formerly situated outside the reservation camp.

The reservation camp was known as the United States Naval Reservation under Commission Resoluti

on No. 21 dated April 25, 1910, covered by Executive Order No. 56 dated January 6, 1911.

It was formally turned over to the Philippine Government on December 6, 1956 by virtue of Embassy Note 0634.

A joint petition by personnel of the Philippine Military Academy and the City Government resulted to the reservation of the polo field to polo players and eventually awarded to the actual occupants of the area by then President Diosdado Macapagal by virtue of Republic Act No. 3590.

The first settlers were the Military and their families.

On September 21, 1983, then President Ferdinand E. Marcos made the navy base camp purely a military reservation.

Grade 7 Student in Baguio Reportedly Dies Amid Heavy Rains

Classes suspended midday across the city — incident under verification

Baguio City — Widespread concern spread on social media after a netizen commented under a post by the Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO), mentioning that a Grade 7 student from a public school had “accidentally slipped and hit her head while going home” during heavy rainfall on Monday, July 28, 2025.

The incident has not yet been confirmed by official sources, including the Department of Education – Cordillera (DepEd-CAR), school officials, or local police authorities.

“Let us include in our prayers the family of the Grade 7 student who accidentally slipped and hit her head when going home,” the comment read.

On the same day, classes in Baguio City were suspended at lunchtime due to worsening weather conditions tied to the southwest monsoon (habagat) and remnants of Tropical Storm Emong.

Heavy rains have caused flooding, reduced visibility, and slippery roads throughout the region.

Class suspensions were confirmed by both local government announcements and regional weather advisories.

DepEd-CAR earlier emphasized that school heads should coordinate closely with local DRRM units and prioritize student safety in the face of unpredictable weather.

No statement has been released by DepEd, local police, or any involved school official.

The exact circumstances of the alleged incident have yet to be confirmed by independent sources.

We are currently reaching out to DepEd-CAR and relevant authorities to verify the details and gather more information about the incident.

Updates will be provided as soon as credible details emerge.

📌 This is a Developing Story
This report is based on currently available information. As more details become clear — including confirmation of the incident and statements from relevant authorities — this article will be updated accordingly.

Readers are advised to avoid speculation and await verified information from official channels.

📲 Stay tuned for updates.
