Story time: this gown’s had quite the journey 🤍
It was custom-made in 2002 by the late Goulee Gorospe for my kumare’s wedding. Since then, it has witnessed three weddings… and now, a graduation. My daughter’s graduation, . 🎓
My daughter was supposed to wear a modern Filipiniana for her graduation, but as luck would have it, something went wrong with the gown the day before the ceremony. Panic mode! We only have 1 day to go! While mentally going through my gown stash and other options, I suddenly remembered the Goulee Gorospe skirt in my closet. She tried it on, but a bit too long for her, so we rushed to have it altered, then went straight to the mall to find a bolero and a top to complete the modern Filipiniana look.
We found a modern bolero and a white top, just what she needed, but I wasn’t happy with the combo. And then, another lightbulb moment: when we got home, I asked her to try on the original top of the gown. It fit like it was made for her! ✨
With the right accessories, a little steaming, and a whole lot of love, the look came together more beautifully than anything we could’ve planned. 🤩
This gown isn’t just a piece of clothing anymore. It’s part of our story now. From being worn by a young woman 23 years ago to another strong young woman today, it’s stitched with love, memory, and a whole lot of heart. 💫
Some pieces aren’t just timeless. They’re meant to come full circle. ❤️
