Students from the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management (BSBA-FM) program of Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) took their learning beyond the classroom as they explored the real world of central banking through an educational exposure trip to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) โ Davao Branch on October 9, 2025.
The educational visit, titled โCABMExpose: From Classroom Theories to Central Bank Realities,โ provided CMC students a firsthand experience of how the countryโs monetary system operates. It aimed to bridge theoretical lessons in financial management with the practical operations of the BSP, enhancing studentsโ understanding of the Philippine financial system.
During the activity, BSP officers discussed the three pillars of the central bankโs core functions. Ramonnetto S. Gervacio, Acting Bank Officer V, explained the importance of price stability in sustaining economic growth. Dorothy Joy A. Diaz, Bank Officer II, elaborated on financial stability and efficient payment and settlement systems, while Senior Research Specialist Peter Ronald T. Arenas presented โThe First Philippine Polymer Banknote Series.โ Arenas highlighted innovations in currency security, durability, and environmental sustainability.
The session concluded with an interactive open forum, where students engaged BSP experts in discussions about monetary policy, digital banking, and financial inclusion. Through this dialogue, participants gained valuable insights into how classroom concepts apply to real-world financial systems and national economic management.
Beyond academic enrichment, the exposure aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). These were reflected in the programโs emphasis on experiential learning, professional development, and collaboration between academic and government institutions.
The BSP visit underscored CMCโs commitment to providing transformative and experiential learning opportunities. It empowered students to not only understand financial systems but also prepare them to become responsible, innovative, and forward-thinking leaders in the financial sector.
