With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Julie Alipala—a journalist of rare courage, a devoted mother, and an unwavering champion of truth.

Julie passed away peacefully in her sleep at 1 a.m. on April 3. Her loss is profound, felt not just by those who knew her but by all who valued her reporting—insightful, unflinching, and always in pursuit of justice.

She was the journalist we needed in these uncertain times. Red-tagged, threatened, and intimidated, yet her resolve never wavered. She stood firm in the face of danger, refusing to be silenced. Fearless in uncovering the truth, deeply committed to ethical journalism, she set a standard for us all. Beyond her work, she was a loving mother, and our hearts are with her family in this difficult moment.

The International Association of Women in Radio and Television - Philippines also honors Julie for her critical contributions to our understanding of gender-based attacks. Her expertise, shared generously in our conversations, shaped strategies and strengthened efforts to combat this urgent issue. Her voice was not just informative—it was deeply empathetic, driven by an unshakable commitment to justice and those most vulnerable.

Julie’s legacy is one of courage, integrity, and unrelenting truth-telling. May her memory guide us, reminding us of the power of fearless journalism and the responsibility we carry.
