College Spirit Soars in CDU’s Fresh Start Fest!

Our college neophytes brave the gates of their new home during the General Orientation for A.Y. 2025-2026.

Like explorers hungry for new horizons, our freshmen don the colors of their colleges like flags on sails. The administration greeted them in their early program with games and presentations. Booths prepared by college and organization representatives line up in the annex.

To have reached a new chapter of their academic lives is no easy feat, and one that calls for an adventurer’s welcome. The Fresh Start Fest is a celebration of Stallion potential, and for fellow students to send the freshmen the best of luck onwards.

Awards? Publications? Visiting scholar in multiple international universities? Wait, too many to enumerate in just one post. Sounds unbelievable? Well, these are indeed just SOME of the treasures inside our guest’s bag.

Insights continued to flow along the walls of the CDU Auditorium as another multi-awarded legend, now in the field of biomedical engineering, shared his knowledge on the relevance of publication and biomedical engineering and how these impact the field of healthcare.

Dr. Nilo T. Bugtai, MSc, PhD, with his vast experience and outstanding credentials, shared his experience and knowledge on how biomedical engineering played a role in improving healthcare services as evident in the different equipments found in health institutions such as radio technology equipment.

He also highlighted how publishing research is essential in the overall improvement of the services being received by the patients together with the challenges faced by the field of research in the current society. This serves as a medium for new bodies of knowledge to be communicated to people. Proper translation of these evidences into real-life solutions contribute to industry growth and improvements in healthcare.

Truly, Dr. Bugtai’s wit and wisdom enlightened the main purpose of all aspiring researchers and enthusiasts alike in conducting research – improve what society currently has for the betterment of its people.

Professor Jed Montayre, the Associate head for the School of Nursing and Director for JBI Centre of Evidence-based Practice for Healthcare Policy of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, shared his insights on the essence of rooting innovation in its efficient utilization and integration in improving life during the Cebu Doctors’ University 3rd International Research Congress 2025 held at the CDU Auditorium during the opening segment of the two-day event.

He showcased real-life scenarios to visualize how proper integration and application of innovation can make an impact especially in the field of healthcare. From the original 17-years time frame for an evidence-based practice data to be applied in routine practice to frameworks and approaches that can help in proper evidence implementation, Prof. Montayre’s talk allowed the attendees to understand the true essence of innovation and how this can be applied in continuously improving for a future aimed at providing service that adheres to the highest standards of transformative practice.
