𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙚𝙩, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜?

I was mad at my friends for not answering my plea for us to hang out.

Vacation it is—everyone free from the burden and tight schedules of academics. All of us were back in the hometown we grew up in. And yet, ironically, days and weeks passed, and we never saw each other.

The hangouts we longed for stayed inside the group chat, gathering dust like unread messages of promises we forgot how to keep. I grew tired of being the only one to initiate, to reach out. I was mad. Mad enough because I missed them so much.

But finally, after weeks of waiting, the hangout came to life. The plan finally escaped the group chat. We found ourselves by the seaside, barefoot on familiar sand, with laughter trying to echo louder than time lost.

We shared a bottle—each swig not just alcohol, but the ache of weeks we spent pretending we were fine. We passed it around like a silent confession, and suddenly, the chikas, the laughter, and the pauses in between told me what I had been too mad to see.

I sat there quietly, letting the breeze listen in, and realized: They weren’t drifting away... they were just tired.
Not of me. Not of us.
Just tired of holding themselves together.

So now, I only wish this:
That life, in all its weight and chaos,
learns to be gentler to them—
because no one should have to keep surviving when all they really want is to live.

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙚𝙣 𝙕’𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙤

Grabe, ang bilis talaga magbago ng panahon! Dati “ang ganda mo” lang ang sapat na compliment. Simple times, ika-nga. Ngayon? Kalimutan na ang “maganda” dahil may umaaktibo nang “Girl, 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗛𝗔𝗗 𝗔 𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗪-𝗨𝗣! Talagang 𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗗 ang outfit mo!”

Pero teka, bakit parang iba ang dating? Parang mas intense, mas impactful? As in, girl, ‘𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗜𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚 𝗞𝗔’ at talagang ‘𝗣𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗬’ ang outfit mo?!

𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Ang mundo ng Gen Z ay isang roller coaster ride ng mga salita—may mga twists, turns, at mga kakaibang ekspresyon na parang secret handshake lang ng mga kabataan ang nakakaintindi. Hindi na uso ang “maganda lang” o “astig lang,” na salitaan. At kung akala mo’y ang mga lengguwaheng purong “wow” at “ang galing” ay nariyan pa rin, naku, pasensya na, medyo nahuhuli ka na nga sa trend. Kasi ngayon, para sumabay sa uso, kailangan mo na ng “𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗪-𝗨𝗣 𝗡𝗔 𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘”, para makapag-“𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗬,” na mga talasalitaan. Nakakaloka, ‘di ba? Nakakahilo ang mga salitaan.

𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭 𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆
Malamang sa malamang nakakita ka na ng mga text messages, social media posts, o kaya’y sa pakikinig lamang sa usapan ng mga kabataan ng mga lengguwaheng tila parang secret code lang na kailangang i-decode para maintindihan—daig pa ang mga alien languages: ‘𝘚𝘞𝘈𝘎, 𝘚𝘐𝘔𝘗, 𝘊𝘈𝘗, 𝘙𝘐𝘡𝘡’ ang ilan lamang. Nakaka-shookt na malamang sa dictionary lamang ng Gen Z mo ito matatagpuan. Parang ‘Gen Z Speaks’ lang kung tutuusin. At sa bawat umpukan ng kanilang grupo, hindi na bago ang usapang ganito:

Si friend daw ay nag-“𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗪-𝗨𝗣”—hala, as in literal na ‘𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗜𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚’ Parang tinamaan ng spotlight sa mukha?! Aba, kumikinang kung ganoon?!

Pero sa Gen Z dictionary, hindi literal na ‘lumiwanag’! Kumbaga, nag-level up sa buhay, itsura, maging sa confidence at aura. Parang mas bagong ikaw, fresh at mas empowered. Oh diba, pak ang ibig sabihin nila.

Sa kabilang dako, you “𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗗” that look, naman ang diskurso. Susmaryosep, talagang “𝗣𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗬” ka sa itsurang iyan” ba ang pinupunto?!

Ang sagot: hindi. Ang 𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙 ay nangangahulugang namumukod-tangi ka, ubod ng ganda at husay. Sa madaling salita, super awesome at on point ang datingan.

At kapag narinig mo naman ang “𝗦𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗟𝗘𝗙𝗧 𝗡𝗢 𝗖𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗦” with matching head-to-toe na looks ng mga tao? Talaga bang sumobra sa gutom at “𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗠𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗨𝗠𝗛𝗢” ang atake nito?

Ang nais iparating pala ay sumobra sa galing. Na para bang walang bahid ng pagkakamali at walang iniwang pagkukulang. Perfect performance kung susumahin.

At syempre, kapag perfect ang performance, matik na “𝗦𝗛𝗘 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧” daw iyan. Aba, kung ganoon, di hamak na magaling “𝗠𝗔𝗚-𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜 𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚-𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗡” ang taong iyon, ‘di ba?

Malapit man kung ituring, hindi rin literal na ibig sabihin ng “naintindihan niya ang takdang-aralin” ang kahulugan nito sa mga Gen Z. Sa kanila, ito ay nangangahulugang naintindihan ang goal at ginawa ang bagay ng may kahusayan at estilo, talagang nilaanan ng effort.

At dahil dito, talagang hindi na nakagugulat kung tatawagin siyang “𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚.𝗢.𝗔.𝗧.“ Ano raw? Sumobra na nga sa galing, binigay na ang best pati binuhos na lahat ng effort, tapos itinuring pang “𝗞𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗚“?!

Pero kung titignan ang pariralang ito sa Gen Z dictionary, buhat pala nito ang magandang papuri! Sapagkat “𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙊𝙛 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚“naman pala ang tinutukoy nila, best among the best in all aspects kumbaga.

Hindi rin maikakaila na may mga papuri ring may bakas pa ng arte kung bigkasin, tulad ng “Wow, your hair is really ‘𝙎𝙉𝘼𝙏𝘾𝙃𝙀𝘿,’” at ang segunda pa ni friend na “𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚.” Pero seryoso ba? Like, wow, ang buhok mo ay talagang “𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗪?” at “𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗕𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗧𝗢” ng ano?! Inagaw na nga, nagbibigay pa?!

Iyon pala ang nais sabihin: literal na “inagaw”—inagaw niya ang atensyon ng mga tao! Parang nag-stand out ng higit sa nakakarami, at ang “it’s giving” naman ay nagpapahiwatig ng classy at high-end na dating.

At sa mundo ng Gen Z, hindi rin mawawala ang pag-ibig na minsan ay nagsisimula sa potensiyal ng pagiging bagay sa isa’t isa—perfect match sa madaling salita—at ang sabi pa ng tropa ay, “They’re really my ‘𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣,’” ako na ang number one fan nila. SHIP?! As in sila talaga ang “𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗢” ko?! Grabe, bakit naman nauwi sa pagiging “barko? ”

Ang “𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥” na ito ay hindi ang barkong lumulutang sa tubig—ito ang feeling na bagay sa isa’t isa ang dalawang tao, para bang perfect match, swak na swak, at higit sa lahat, nakikitaan ng potensiyal na mauwi ang samahan sa love story!

Kung nakikitaan ng potensiyal ang dalawang tao maging sila, nariyan rin ang mga paalalang dapat bantayan. Panimula pa nga ni bestie:

“Girl, come on, ‘𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗘𝗔’ on your date.” Ano?! Talagang: Girl, sige na, “𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗛𝗢𝗦 𝗠𝗢 𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗦𝗔𝗔” sa inyong pagkikita?! Na siya namang sasagutin ng kaibigang: “The first time we met, he showed me signs of a ‘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗚.’ Aba, parang napasobra naman yata ang pagkikita, ano? At naging: Noong unang beses kaming nagkita, nagpakita agad siya ng “𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗧?! ”

Pero sa edisyong Gen Z, ang “𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖” 𝙖𝙩 “𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙁𝙡𝙖𝙜” ay parehong mga salita lamang nila na naglalaman ng mas malalim na kahulugan. Ang spill the tea ay hindi tungkol sa literal na pagbuhos ng tsaa; kumbaga, ito ay paraan nila para ipahiwatig sa kausap na ibahagi o sabihin ang latest na balita, partikular na ang mga kaabang-abang na kuwento. Samantala, ang red flag naman ay patungkol sa mga senyales na nagpapahiwatig ng negative vibes. Mga palatandaan o kilos ng isang tao na nagpapakita ng posibleng problema sa isang relasyon.

At ang resulta ng kapansin-pansin na red flag na naka-date, ayon nagmukmok sabay salpak ng earphones; pero teka habang nakikinig ay biglang napailing at napangiti: “Wow, this music ‘𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗣𝗦.’”—Hala, wow, ang music ay ‘𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗸’ daw?!

𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙥𝙨 means exceptionally good, enjoyable, or impressive naman pala in the Gen Z dictionary. Literal na nanapak kasi sumobra sa ganda at swak sa mood niya. Kaya kahit nakilatis na red flag ang naka-date, tuluyan pa ring gumaan ang araw niya.

𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗴 𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗸𝗮: 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘅 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻
Ang Gen Z, o Generation Z kung tutuusin ay tila naninirahan sa sarili nilang mundo—may isang makulay na kuwento ng pagiging malikhain at talas ng isip. Kung saan ang mga salita ay hindi lang basta salita, kundi repleksyon ng kanilang karanasan, pananaw, at paniniwala. Isang patunay na ang wika ay buhay, dinamiko, at patuloy na nagbabago. Ngunit sa kabila ng lahat, mula glow-up hanggang slap man iyan, sa gitna ng nakatatawa at nakakabilib na lengguwaheng nauuso, ang kinagisnang wika nawa ay manatiling makabuluhan sa nakararami, sapagkat ito at sa pundasyon nito nagmumula ang maayos na daloy ng komunikasyon.

Kaya kung kaya mong i-𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘆 ang Gen Z slang, aba’y dapat marunong ka rin mag-level up sa tamang wika para makuha ang papuring “𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚.𝗢.𝗔.𝗧.”—hindi lang sa tea, pati sa tamang salita!

𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩: 𝘾𝘽𝙎𝙐𝘼-𝙎𝙞𝙥𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙩 𝙍𝙊𝙏𝘾 𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝘼𝙍𝘼𝙋𝙏 𝙥𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙪𝙢, 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙚

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)-Sipocot Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Unit has achieved remarkable success in the recently concluded Advance ROTC Academic Phase Training (ARAPT-MS 41&42). This rigorous training program, conducted by the 5th Regional Community Defense Group (RESCOM) of the Philippine Army at the Old Airport in Legazpi City, Albay, ran from June 26th to July 9th, 2025. The program saw the participation of 192 student-cadets from various ROTC units across Region V, and the CBSUA-Sipocot unit distinguished itself through the exceptional performance of its cadets.

The CBSUA-Sipocot ROTC Unit proudly claims the top three positions in the ARAPT. Cadet/Major Oscar Mendoza 2CL secured first place, demonstrating exceptional leadership and skill. Close behind, Cadet/Major Reydon Nollora 2CL earned second place, showcasing his dedication and commitment to excellence. Completing the impressive sweep, Cadet/Major John Carlo Contante 2CL achieved third place, further highlighting the unit's superior training and the cadets' unwavering dedication.

Beyond the top three, the CBSUA-Sipocot ROTC Unit success extends to the prestigious Bernardo Carpio Awardee, an honor bestowed upon Cadet/Major Hernan Triño 2CL. This award recognizes not only academic achievement but also exceptional strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment in the face of challenges. Triño's achievement serves as a powerful symbol of the unit's dedication to fostering well-rounded and resilient future leaders.

The outstanding performance of the CBSUA-Sipocot ROTC Unit in the ARAPT is a testament to the rigorous training, unwavering support, and exceptional dedication of both the cadets and their instructors. Their success is a source of immense pride for the CBSUA-Sipocot community and serves as an inspiration to all aspiring ROTC cadets. This achievement shows the unit's commitment to excellence and its role in producing highly skilled and capable future leaders for the nation.

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) once again proved its global relevance as it earned multiple distinctions in the prestigious World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025, a global evaluation that highlights forward-thinking universities based on real impact, innovation, and student-centered strategies beyond traditional academic metrics.

CBSUA secured the 284th spot in the overall Innovative University category, placing it among the top institutions worldwide recognized for pioneering approaches in higher education. The university also achieved 17th place in Empowerment-Based Management, reflecting its strong culture of participatory governance and inclusive leadership. This visit strengthens the university’s dedication to fostering international collaboration and further enhance students’ academic growth.

Furthermore, this welcome event marks a meaningful step toward global partnership— a significant milestone in preparing CBSUA students to thrive within diverse cultures across borders.

Another alarming incident occurred this morning at 8:00 AM at Sta. Lutgarda National High School (SLNHS) in Cabusao, Camarines Sur, where a number of students reportedly fainted.

Responding immediately, ambulances from the Local Government Unit of Cabusao, along with personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Cabusao, promptly arrived. MDRRMO Libmanan also quickly responded to the incident, transporting the affected students to a nearby hospital for further observation and treatment.

This is not the first such occurrence at the school. Just a few days ago, on July 4, 21 students from the aforementioned school experienced a similar incident, which was then attributed to the scorching heat and fumes.

The school administration hasn't yet issued a statement, and classes remain cancelled as the ongoing investigation delves into the mass fainting's causes. Still, officials are exploring various potential factors—from environmental to psychological, and even spiritual or cultural explanations—as the situation continues to alarm and perplex the entire school community.

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙉𝙍 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩

The man who was fatally hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) passenger train on Monday afternoon in Barangay Bagumbayan, Libmanan, has been identified as Manuel I. Narbarto, 21, a resident of Barangay Puro Batia, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

His family confirmed his identity after recognizing photos of the victim circulating on social media. They claimed his remains later that evening.

Relatives stated that Narbarto had been missing for several days prior to the incident. In an interview with DZMM Teleradyo, they revealed that he had a disagreement with his older sibling before his disappearance.

According to the Libmanan Municipal Police Station, as reported on DZMM, initial findings suggest that Narbarto may not have heard the horn of the approaching train, which resulted in the fatal accident.

The College Artisans Bulletin reached out to the victim’s family for further comment; however, they courteously declined, citing that they were preoccupied at the time.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Michelle Sumangil, wife of journalist Emil Sumangil seeks protection for her husband following his exposé on the missing sabungeros— a plea that serves as a stark reminder of the risks face by those who expose corruption and injustice. Year 2023 since the last journalist receives threats leading to murder. The brutal assassination of Juan Jumalon, a Filipino radio journalist, on November 5, 2023, underscores the alarming prevalence of media violence in the Philippines, marking him as the 199th journalist murdered since 1986. According to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, Jumalon was the fourth journalist to be killed under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺?

Emil's case isn't isolated— it's symptomatic of the precarious state of press freedom where revelations come with a price. If we fail to protect journalists like him, we fail democracy itself. The pattern is undeniable: each new threat against a truth-seeking journalist represents another assault on the public's right to know.

Emil Sumangil's revelations about the missing sabungeros have exposed the troubling realities of systemic corruption and impunity that allow such injustices to persist. The fact that journalist of his caliber must now fear for his safety— not just from shadows, but from the very forces his reporting seeks to expose— highlights the urgent need for societal accountability. When journalists are threatened for bringing hidden crimes to light, it raises critical questions about the state of our democracy.

The government and relevant authorities must take immediate action to ensure the safety of Emil Sumangil and others like him. This includes providing adequate security measures and creating an environment where freedom of the press is not only respected but actively protected. A man lost his life after being hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train this afternoon, July 6, 2025, in Sitio Cantarilla, Bagumbayan, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

The incident happened as the train was nearing Libmanan Station on its route to Naga City. Residents who witnessed the event immediately contacted local authorities, while PNR personnel quickly responded to the scene.

The victim has yet to be identified. Authorities have since recovered the body and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

What was supposed to be an ordinary school day turned alarming when 32 students from Sta. Lutgarda National High School suddenly collapsed inside their classrooms. The suspected culprits? Scorching heat and fumes from welding works powered by a generator during a power outage.

The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4, amid intense heat and a scheduled power interruption. According to initial reports, a welding operation was ongoing inside the school premises, releasing fumes while the school relied on a generator for electricity. The combination of extreme heat and inhalation of smoke is believed to have triggered dizziness, shortness of breath, and eventually fainting spells among students.

Three (3) of the affected students were immediately rushed to the Bicol Regional General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC), while another was referred to the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) for further evaluation. The remaining students were given immediate first aid on site and were later monitored for recovery.

Responding swiftly, the Local Government Unit of Cabusao—headed by Mayor Jose Gil “Jun” Aguilar Jr.—alongside the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Rural Health Unit (RHU), arrived at the scene to stabilize the situation and transport the affected students. Teachers and school officials were also praised for maintaining calm and assisting during the emergency.

As of this writing, authorities have confirmed that all students are now in stable condition. However, an official investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident and whether there were lapses in safety protocols. Local officials assured that necessary measures will be put in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
