My son was recently diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease.
It all started with five days of high fever, rashes all over his body, red eyes, red mouth, and cracked lips. I didn’t think it could be Kawasaki Disease because he had a history of similar symptoms before, which we believed were caused by allergies. I explained this to the doctor, but on the second day, his fever still hadn’t gone down, even with medication.
He was irritable, couldn’t sleep, and cried continuously—but no tears came out. When the doctors checked him again, they decided to do a 2D echo to confirm what was really going on. At first, I hesitated, but as a parent, I needed to understand why there was no progress in his condition after two days.
After the 2D echo, the doctor confirmed that my son had Kawasaki Disease. I was overwhelmed—I didn’t know how to feel. I wanted to cry, but no tears came out. I felt deep anxiety.
The doctor explained that immediate treatment was crucial because the disease could affect his heart if not addressed quickly. The required medication would stop the disease and ease all the symptoms, but it was extremely expensive. My son needed 5 vials, and each one cost PHP 22,000 from the distributor. The medicine wasn’t available at the hospital, but thankfully, we found some in Santiago and ordered it right away.
That night, they began the treatment. It was one of the scariest and longest nights of our lives. By the time the 3rd vial was administered, we already saw improvement. After the 5th vial, he was doing much better.
We stayed in the hospital one more day for monitoring, and thankfully, there were no side effects. I’m incredibly grateful to our family and friends who helped us through this. Your support means the world to us.
However, we are still struggling financially due to his ongoing medications. If you are willing to help, any amount would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support
