The Divorce Insurance (2025)
Korean title: 이혼보험 (Ihon Boheom)
Genre: Romantic workplace comedy / office romance, with social commentary elements
---
Summary:
The story centers on Noh Ki‑jun (played by Lee Dong‑wook), a skilled insurance actuary who has been divorced three times. Rather than being defeated by his experiences, he sees a need — and an opportunity. He decides to develop a “divorce insurance” product at his company, Plus Insurance, to help protect people financially and emotionally in the event of divorce.
To carry this out, he forms a team comprising:
Kang Han‑deul (Lee Joo‑bin): an underwriter who has herself gone through divorce; she is trying to rebuild her life.
An Jeon‑man (Lee Kwang‑soo): a risk surveyor; cautious and safety‑oriented, which gives in‑between moments of humor and conflict.
Jeon Na‑rae (Lee Da‑hee): a quantitative expert/financial mathematician who initially treats life (and divorce) in terms of numbers / investment rather than emotion. She’s also connected to Ki‑jun's past (his ex‑wife) which adds tension.
The show follows both the professional challenge of creating, selling, and maintaining this novel insurance product under stringent conditions (e.g. pilot periods, needing zero divorces among first clients, dealing with promotion missteps, legal/financial issues) and the personal lives of the team, especially how Ki‑jun’s past divorces, the emotional baggage, and relationships among the characters unfold.
There are also episodic “cases” — clients who have signed up or might sign up for this divorce insurance, whose marriages are at risk. Part of the drama comes from the team trying to prevent divorces (or deal with clients’ emotional/real‑life issues) so that the conditions of the insurance product are met. For example, they sometimes intervene in clients’ lives, or uncover hidden reasons behind couples’ conflict.
Romance develops gradually between Ki‑jun and Han‑deul; other romantic subplots also emerge among the team and supporting characters.

Note:
The show mixes comedy, romance, and office / product development work, together with commentary on divorce, modern relationships, and social stigma around marriage/separation.
