๐ DOST-MIMAROPA OIC-Regional Director Visits Project MOSES at Mindoro State University: Advancing Weather Monitoring and Disaster Resilience
On May 8, 2025, the DOST-MIMAROPA OIC-Regional Director, Engr. Jerry B. Mercado, together with DOST-PSTO Oriental Mindoro, visited Project MOSES (Monitoring and Observation of Site-specific E-Weather Stations) at Mindoro State University, Alcate, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. The visit served as a platform for in-depth discussions on the project's current achievements, future directions, and its crucial role in promoting disaster resilience across the region.
During the visit, the Project MOSES team presented the project's innovative approaches to localized, real-time weather monitoring. Discussions highlighted the upcoming Phase 2 of the project, which will focus on establishing a dedicated data center and deploying an additional weather monitoring station in Calapan City, further strengthening the regionโs capacity for accurate weather observation and early warning.
Jointly funded by DOST-MIMAROPA and Mindoro State University, Project MOSES is a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance community preparedness, support agricultural research and planning, and safeguard lives and livelihoods through state-of-the-art localized synoptic weather monitoring technology.
