I was an OFW in Saudi Arabia for almost 5 years but nothing happened. No savings were made and I felt I just wasted my time doing the job that I am supposed to do to achieve my dreams. I went home almost empty-handed and almost broke. I tried my luck working in Libya for 2 years but again it's not for me. I believed that something was good in the United Arab Emirates and I came here in 2014. I found a job here not as a Nurse but as an Assistant, my salary is not as I expected but I continue to work to process my license to practice Nursing, and fortunately, I was able to lift myself and begin my way up to find my dreams. I found a company that really brought me all the way up to materialize all my dreams until I realize I missed a lot of family gatherings and milestones of all my nephews and nieces in my home country. I am single and have no children on my own but I love my family. I said to myself when I work like this? What if my company decides to terminate me or if there’s another recession? I said to myself that I can’t continue to do this and start a side hustle earning passive income to have a backup plan. The light at the end of the very long, dark, lonely tunnel came when I learned about this young couple from Canada I met online. They are hands-on with their children and what surprises me is that they don't have daily jobs because of the recent pandemic.
