The Punjab government has launched the Green Bus Service in six additional districts, extending eco-friendly public transport to Attock, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Khanewal, and Khushab.
The initiative is part of a wider plan to modernize mobility across the province with air-conditioned electric buses, offering affordable fares set at Rs. 20 per ride. Officials say the service is designed to improve accessibility, especially for women, students, and workers, while also reducing environmental impact.
The government has also outlined an ambitious expansion roadmap, targeting 1,100 electric buses this year and up to 5,000 buses within three years, with the network eventually reaching tehsil-level areas across Punjab.
