General perception is that House of Timur ended in 1857 with the fall of Mughal dynasty and Bahadur Shah Zafar being prisoned in Burma ....but that's not the case...If the history of Chitral's Katoor royal family is read then we came to know that ancestor of this dynasty i.e Mirza Ayub Baba who came to Chitral in 1520 was a grandson of Sultan Hussain Mirza (1469-1506) and that this dynasty was also of Timurid lineage.
In Tareekh-e-Chitral by Mohammad Azizuddiin Aziz, 1887 we are told that Chitral's ruler Sangeen Ali-II even visited Mughal emperor Shah Alam-I the 2nd son of emperor Aurangzeb..and they had good conversation with each-other..and Mughal emperor was happy to know the Timurid lineage of Sangeen Ali-II.
Hence, Timurid dynasty actually ended in 1947 with Princely state of Mehtars of Chitral acceding to Pakistan.
