The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has finalized the necessary arrangements to set up a KP pavilion at the annual cultural Lok Mela in Islamabad.
The event would continue for ten days, from November 4th to November 12th in which all provinces, including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, would participate and set up their pavilions to showcase their respective cultures and traditions.
It is worth mentioning that the KP Pavilion got first position in the last mega event that was held in Lok Mela Islamabad.
The aim of participating in Lok Mela is to present a positive image of the province to the world and promote the cultural and tourist destinations of the region to attract local and foreign tourists.
KPCTA Would establish 30 stalls at the KP Pavilion, showcasing the cultural and traditional handicrafts of artisans from various districts, including merged districts of the province, Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Haripur, Swabi, Charsadda, Mansehra, Peshawar and Chitral.
Moreover, food stalls selling indigenous cuisine will also be part of the pavilion.
Handicrafts including wax paintings, pottery work, pakul topi, cross-stitch, stone carving ,Charsadawal chappals, Hazara Jasti and Kundi work, Hazara Phulkari, tarkashi from Dera Ismail Khan, wood art, Swati shawls, truck art, Hazara traditional bags and handiwork, Gandhara wood art, mosaic art, calligraphy, Mughal art, antique jewelry, straw work and various handicrafts, dry fruits, and other cultural stalls would be set up at the pavilion.
The event would also include stall of merged districts representing work of artisans and traditional food besides pavilion of Kalash and Qissa Khawani
KPCTA would also establish a Tourism Information Desk to guide visitors about the cultural and tourism potential of the province through brochures, posters, booklets, video documentaries and pamphlets.
A grand KP cultural musical night would be held on November 12th, in which famous artists from KP who will perform traditional music.
The primary goal of the festival is to promote Pakistan's indigenous folk heritage and provide a platform for artisans and performers associated with different crafts and musical traditions to demonstrate their skills and gain recognition at the national level.
