The Great War was ongoing when the army arrested a farmer on suspicion of having links with the enemy forces.
Some time later, the farmer received a letter from his wife in prison. She wrote:
"You are in jail, and the season for planting potatoes is passing by. But I cannot dig the fields myself. If you were here to plough the land, I could sow the potatoes."
The farmer replied:
"Do not touch the fields under any circumstances, because I have buried weapons there."
A few days later, his wife wrote again:
"The very next day after your letter arrived, soldiers came and dug every corner of the fields. But they did not find any weapons. Now what should I do?"
The farmer responded:
"Go ahead and plant the potatoes."🫠
