Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Off-Season Fruit Industry Research Area in Sichuan Tianfu New Area, China. The site featured a wide range of grape hybrids, each with its own unique and delicious taste.
What surprised me the most was the extensive use of organic fertilizer—up to 95%—while maintaining very low input costs. Despite this, the productivity was impressive.
👉 On just one acre of grape cultivation, an average yield of 3,000 kg is easily achieved.
👉 Even at the lowest market rate of 10 RMB/kg (approximately PKR 400/kg), the total revenue per acre comes to around PKR 1.2 million.
👉 Only 5,000 kg of organic fertilizer is used per acre, which costs about 500 RMB (approximately PKR 20,000).
This visit gave me hope that, inshAllah, one day such efficient, low-cost, and high-yield organic farming practices will be adopted widely in Pakistan as well. The potential for agricultural transformation is immense if we focus on smart, sustainable methods.
Let’s work together to bring innovation to our fields.
